Medard park or Turnkey Creek is actually pretty decent compared to just a few years ago...I am still learning the lake since it is an old pit and it has a lot of offshore structure, but I feel the big fish potential is there for sure....Key is early or late, tough during summer days....

Sarasota has some good areas, Bradenton River I hear is good, golf courses, I know 1 is not private, but in Pinellas County Walshingham, and some of the Tampa public parks are actually pretty good at times. People never fish the Lakes that FWC manages, AL Lopez Park, Lake Park off Van Dyke, Bobby Hicks Pond, and a few other's on the list...I stay away from Seminole in Pinellas, never do well there and only tried 2x...Never hurts to knock on doors if a lake or pond looks good, just look or another fisherman, and ask I you can help manage the pond, clean it, but usually people will let you fish if you ask and then respect the water, I usually use the approach of "I will fish with all bio baits like Gulp if that is best for the fish, or do you have any bluegills you need removed, slots etc...A private maintained pond if you can show value can be huge to have for Summer Dawg days when you just need a few easy fish....I have learned that it is best to avoid neighbors unless you also ask them for permission, if you are getting asked often, then you are 100% in the right place...Hope that helps, little 2 acre ponds can be good but many are private. A smile and respect goes a long way, most people sneak on without asking so you start out way ahead of the game....Tressbassing is an art.

I'm new here, so someone please let me know if this message is misplaced.  As a boatless fly angler living in south Palm Beach County I seek a place on line to make contact with others in the area for the purpose of sharing fly fishing tips, successful fly patterns, locations and techniques for shore fishing local lakes, ponds, and backyard canals.  If a dedicated topic could be created, I would be the first to make use of it.

Let me hear from other local fly flingers.

cheers,

Mike in Boca Raton, Fl
