Fished the TCTC tournament today from about 0630-1500. Boated 6 but only weighed 4. My best 4 went 17.60. Good enough for second place. Lots of BIG fish caught today. My biggest which was a 6.40 came on a silver/yellow war eagle spinner-bait 20 minutes before weigh-in and my others on crankbaits and another on the spinner. The wind was rough but managed to do ok anyway.

Dang man NICE day and great catch! Congrats on the 2nd place - quite a bag.  Figured they'd be biting today with the wind blowing and this front moving in but didn't make it out myself.

MAN! What an awesome weekend on Grand Bayou!

We prefished Saturday & caught several on a C-rig in 4-8ft of water & some on a Tenn Shad Baby One Minus in about 2-3 ft of water...we ended the day catching 6 overs, 8 slots & 2 unders.

This morning in the TCTC tourney we ran to our first spot hoping for the C-rig bite. Fished that spot for about an hour without a bite & started getting worried. We then ran across the lake to our second spot which is some REALLY shallow areas with humps that are exposed above the water & scattered stickups. We put one over in the boat right off the bat & by 915, we had our limit with 3 overs & 2 unders & A KICKER FISH THAT WENT 9.36LBS! (My personal best by far)Caught him on the same Baby One Minus in abot 1 to 1 1/2 ft of water.

Fought the wind in that spot off & on & caught fish every time we hit that spot.

We ended the day with 5 overs & the first place win with about 24lbs!

All fish caught today were caught on the Baby One Minus, Chart/Blue H&H & on a Chart/Black H&H...all fish caught today were shallow...no more than 3ft deep. I think over all we had 5 overs, 4 unders & about 6 slot fish today.

bassadict69

Oh yeah! All our keeper fish today were caught in the same area with water temps ranging from 61 early to just over 65 later.

Wow.  Sounds like a great day on Grand Bayou.
I'm jealous.   ~rant

Congratulations to all you TCTC guys.  I'm more than a little jealous as I love that lake and yall are responsible for it.  The UBCS up there showed us South Louisiana boys what a great lake it was.  Sounds like a great tournament.  Please leave those kind of stringers up there.  We don't need any of that at Toledo for the UBCS.  I think I may start icing the beer now for the shootout.  Anyway, once again, way to go guys, sounds like yall all had an awesome day and looking forward to competing with you guys soon.

Brent and I fished our arses off and picked up one here and there on a variety of baits. Chartreuse ,white and blue spinnerbaits, small amber and black jigs and a carolina rigged lizard. We were most successful in 3-5 ft of water. We had five overs for 17.54 which was good enough for third. There was another team that weighed 17.54 but they had two dead fish and incurred a penalty........... giving us the money.

Sounds like most everbody had a heck of a good time at the tourny. Wish I could have been there. That's a hell of a nice fish you caught there James. You got something you can brag about the rest of your life. You getting a replica? Is Bass Life associated with Grand bayou? Maybe somebody needs to give them a call and get the lake on the list.

Chris

Catch of the day, at the end of the tourney Brent and I were running to fish the tip of that point where yall caught the biggun . So we had to go more into the cove and had to sit back and watch yall catch the fish we needed  lo....and then to top it off yall beat us by 6 /100ths of an ounce .On the other hand I love to see father and son teams do great . Great to see Fogy and son fishing together as well. Ive been thinking of putting something together for a father/son or daughter deal with a cookout or something . I may get with Beagle and Fogy and plan a BIG shindig out.

Kermit and I fished the TCTC also. Winds were out of the south at 10-15 and gusting higher. Water ranged from 58-63 and stained. We hadn't fished GB this year and it showed. Only managed 2 slots and one over (4.5lbs) and they all hit a Red-Eye Shad. We tried plastics, spinners, cranks, c-rig, and the kitchen sink. Problem was we weren't fishing shallow enough. Live and learn, that's what fishing is all about. This is one great thing with TCTC, we found out what we did wrong at the weigh-in from everyone and we'll learn from it.

Congrats to all the winners! ~c~ And especially James and Brian for the new club record!! ~c~ ~c~

Awesome day guys. I figured yall would do good. Josh Richard and his wife were up there Friday and their best 5 went just over 30lbs. He two 7lbers, two 6lbers, and one over 5lbs.They had 9 fish over the slot. He brought the pictures by my house Saturday night. :shocking:  He did release the big girls so they are still swimming. It's unbelievable the quality fish in that small lake.

Partner and I also fish TCTC. We didn't even come close to the winners but had a good time. Caught several shallow but nothing big. Just picked up a fish here and there.
Finally found a school of fish on a drop off and pulled in 10 fish in like 15 mins. My partner was getting upset cause he was doing the same thing and didn't catch one. I was catching them on back to back casts. Weird how the smallest detail makes the fish bite.

Congrats to the winners. Those were some beautiful BASS guys and gals.  :)  ~c~ I think LockJaw is going to have their hands full this year.

We almost didn't catch it...it was BARELY and I mean BARELY hooked...one more head shake and she woulda come off...thank the lord she didn't! My dad wouldn't stop saying Ike's little saying "Never give up" but hey what he said is true...20 minutes before weigh-in we caught that fish...anyways that father son/daughter sounds like a great idea...maybe we could piece together a little father son/daughter fruit jar or something but I don't know...we'll see...

BIG PAPA

Trey and I fished too deep most of of the day, fishing on reports from the day before. ~b~  But as we figured out that they were shallower we finally got on some fish and ended up with a little over 12 lbs. Our fish came from 2 feet of water and were caught on C-rig , traps and spinnerbaits. Shallow points close to deep water.

That would be awsome but my work schedule sucks.

Father son tourney, are Trey and I too old to fish it? ~gf

If so I will have to get a grandson to fish with me. ;D

Grand Bayou was on fire this weekend. There were 2 eights, a ten and a new lake record of 13.995 caught on Saturday and then two 9's and a 7 caught in our tournament. Man it was awesome to finally hit one right ~c~

Congrats to those that caught a pig :toot:

Here's the eight ( 7-14) that Laurie caught on a black and blue jig. Saturday the wind was down and we had cloud cover. Most of our fish came on flukes or the jig in less than 3 ft of water. Sunday the wind was brutal and we had to switch to spinnerbaits. We lost count Sunday after 20 fish but we had a tremendous time just chunking and winding at shallow banks with stick ups. We only caught seven keepers with 4 overs. The rest were slot fish. We had our chances on Sunday for bigger fish but they pulled off. With the way the hawgs were running this weekend down there I hate to think what size fish we might of lost :shocking: on the two pull offs  :'(

Mike, did ya'll catch most of your shallow fish around brush & stick-ups?

I think all weekend we might have caught 3 around a stickup of some sort...everything else we caught shallow was on bare banks or around bare humps that had the top of the hump exposed above the water line.

What were your water temps where you caught the shallow fish?

We had to keep going back to one spot where the water seemed to be about 4 degrees warmer than everywhere else we fished. I think by the end of the day Sunday, the water temps in our main spot was just over 65 degrees.

By the way...when do we get to see the pics of my hawg!? Help me out! I am dieing to see them!  ;D ;)

Mike Cork

Guess that's true, I have all the pictures :shocking: Humm I wonder what it's worth  ~roflmao...

I'll get the photo's emailed out so that you all can post them where you want too.

As far as the fish the bank/cover didn't really seem to matter, we caught fish on bare banks and on stick ups. Our pattern was to cover shallow water. Our most productive water was that which warmed the fastest but the end of the day it was up around 65 as well.

What's it worth? Hmmm? Considering I have rarely seen a fish almost 10 pounds much less caught one...I am sure I could come up with something!  lo

That is interesting how we could not buy a bite around any type cover except one large fish Brian lost on a lizard in a clump of stickups on Saturday.

MAN! I wish we could have stayed & fished again today before the front!

Larry and I fished the TCTC as well we started on the north side of the lake and worked our way down the bank line throwing a small spinner and crank baits and one of my jigs finally went to a cove and about 915 caught our first over on the jig almost three Lab's then moved in Little deeper and at 10:00 picked up our largest 7.31 on the jig both fish came around stickup's both fish were in the 4 too 6ft depth and the water temps were 58 too 61 deg our batteries were about done for on the trolling motor and we were going to find a place and tie up on the other side of the lake out of the wind and that was killing me because I new we had them figured out now just repeat the process but we just could not get and stay where we needed to be for the wind caught one jack fish on the craw crank and the jig was a crawfish pattern we weighed in 2 fish 10.03 I think and good enough for 9th place we are reviewing the batteries issues and will have the problem resolved before the shootout  congratulations to James and Brian on the win and the hog and Mark with the big fish and the rest that kicked butt There were some really nice fish brought in today wish it could be like that more often
Mike where did you put the Pic's from the weigh in ?
Shawn

Mike Cork

Pic's from weigh in are not up yet  ~rant good god you all are amazing. We get the points up fast like you want but no that's not good enough  ~roflmao I will start a new thread for the pics when I get a chance to get them resized, loaded to shutterfly and then create the thread here. Yesterday with the storms the satellite was having issues so loading pictures was taking way to long. If someone else in at future events would like to take pictures and load then to the site for everyone, you I just don't think I would complain :help:
