i poured some baits today for the first time.  i think for my first attempt they turned out pretty good.  i poured about 5 of each, a few didnt turn out, a few did.  not bad for my first attempt.

for the senko i made a plaster mold.  for the swimbait, i had a custom mold made.  im still learning.......things will only get better  ;D ~cf ~gf

The swimbait looks pretty good, I'd like to get into tackle craft, but sadly I don' thave the time to go fishing enough to make it worth it right now.

not to shabby for the first pour.  dont forget, save your trimmin's, you can melt them down and repour them.  Loco, if you are interested, i have all my dye, softener, salt, plastic and powder's for sale under the swap board. i also have about 4lbs of plastic trimmin's, worms and such that can be remelted.

thanks alot.  i was very excited with the way these turned out.  i was also happy with the way the swimbait turned out.  im also working on another design for the swimbait.

the color was clear on the bellys then watermello with a hint of white for the rest of the bodys.

pretjah

no don't work on more molds...work on more pours...

how much for 5 of those swimbaits???  B-)

RC

ive had an idea floating around in my head for about 2 weeks now, its been driving me crazy. i'll report back after the weekend and let you know how i make out.

dont worry pretjah, i have the house to myself (no wifey and kids) saturday evening, so i plan on doing some pouring.  pm me your address :)

tmiller2

"the vibrashock?.....its like crack for fish"

RC

thanks.  i had some more fun tonight.  these are colored "natural" with "clear" belly's.  some have silver flake, some have green.  my camera is not good, so its hard to see the clear belly's.  ive also, improved from my last pour with an idea that i had.  these turned out fantastic !  (in my opinion :) )  they eyes are also molded under under the plastic.  this way they cannot come off while fishing.

please tell me what you think, maybe how i can improve them.....

Wow that looks great we bought some online from ad here in this message board they arrived yesterday . They are same color as yours as someone told me order dark/green types and low and behold they worked we caught few fish tonight but all small so we let them go.
Yours are good enough to sell

RC

the difference between mine and whats on the market is that the store bought baits are hollow.  mine are solid.  im also leaving a "V" shape in their back for the hook tip.  another good thing about these are that since they are solid not hollow, the biats will last forever.  the hollow ones get pretty torn up after a few fish.

i am in the process of perfecting a mold that wil allow me to pour some hollow ones.  i'll post some pics once that is done !

pretjah

dude you sure are getting this swimbait pure down...they look freaking awesome

They look like candy feel like eating them lol.   I know close to nothing about fishing have gone a few times but the advice here I got about using dark lures and watermelon color have paid off those colors work.
You find the bright colors work for you?
You should consider selling your lures as imagine many would buy them the hollow ones do get torn up after fish bite them a few times imagine you could make them with hooks inserted allready for those who prefer that.

pretjah

dude don't knwo if it's possible...but if you put a bit of yellow in that green one  it'd make a great blue gill imitation!!!!

RC

oh yeah, i could do it no problem.  good call !

yellow is the only color i dont have, i'll add that to my list for my next color order.

i went fishing yesterday and spent alot of time fishing my swim baits.  here is what i found.

i spent some time throwing the original basstrix and found that they swimm very well, but only when you use a 4/0 or 5/0 weighted hook.  im referring to the hoks that have a fairly large weight permenantly attached to the shank of the hook.  since they are hallow, they will not swim without the weighted hooks.  and they do swim very nicely when weighted on the bottom !

next i threw mine with a standard 5/0 worm hook with no weight.  with an extremly slow retreive, they swim pretty good with no weight.  once i added some speed to the retreive they would twist around upside down and would not swim belly side down.....

next i added one of the weighted hooks that i used when fishing the basstrix.  now they swam very nicely, but were very heavy.  almost to heavy.  this caused me to have to use a fast retreive to keep them from hitting the bottom.

after some thinking, i went back to a regular 5/0 worm hook, but attached a slip shot/pinch weight to the bottom of the hook.  the little bit of weight was just the right amount to keep them swimming belly down, with plenty of tail action.  now, to me, this was a good thing because i wont have to spend money on weighted hooks. i have plenty of 5/0 worm hooks and plenty of slipshot weights.  PERFECT !!

Great looking baits!!!  They all look great but I love the watermelon/red and the white/red.  Well done.  I'm either gonna buy a starter pouring kit or an airbrush.  I can't decide which way I wanna go.  You've got me leaning back towards pouring.
