$25/year membership, all of which goes into the "Classic" pot and paid out in the October Classic...nothing is kept by the club.  100% of the tournament entry money is also paid out at every tournament.

Yes, you can fish these as open tournaments.  We have 11 tournaments on the schedule and you only need to fish 5 to qualify for the Classic, any five that YOU choose.

Directions to Martin Creek State Park, for those coming to the LA Poormans openers:

For those coming from the Shreveport area, take I-20 to the 43 exit past Marshall and head South on 43 until you get to Tatum. About 2 miles south of Tatum, make a left on CR 2183...can't miss the park. $2/person for park usage, everyone make sure you fill out an envelope and save your stub for proof of payment.

If you have any questions, contact me at:

With the very distinct possibility of low visibility on tournament morning, we will be allowing our teams to leave the ramp early and IDLE to your spots...more details at check-in. Hope to see everyone there.

Since I don't know how the parking situation will be, I will be somewhere in the parking lot with a table set up and a sign saying "LA Poormans Check-in" and I will be wearing a Poormans hat with the little lights on the bill.  We plan on arriving there around 5:00am, so if you get there earlier...go ahead and launch and walk up to the table and pay your fees and we will send someone back with you to check your livewell and mark your trolling motor with a ribbon.  I'm going to try and set up the table near the ramp entry lane, but don't know how feasible this will be until I get there.  We are going to allow people to leave as early as 6:00am, but YOU CANNOT START FISHING UNTIL 7:00am. Registration will be closed at 6:45am, so if you get there before 6:45am and are sitting in line...walk up and pay and we will check your livewell in line...because I will be idling to my spot at 6:45 and nobody will be allowed to enter after that time.  Everyone be safe out there, and NO RUNNING ON PLANE UNTIL AFTER 7:00am and then ONLY WHEN VISIBILITY ALLOWS IT.  See everyone in the morning.

Well, we had a poor turnout for the first LA Poormans tournament...5 boats.  I don't know if the weather kept folks from fishing or the boat show tournament.  It was cold and windy all day and we only had 2 boats weigh in fish. Congrats to Charles Harding and son with a 5 fish limit for 10.28 lbs for first place. Second place and big bass (2.86 lbs) went to Keith Simpson/Stephen Trammell with 3 fish for 6.71 lbs.  Our next event is scheduled for Feb. 16th on Caddo Lake, E.G. Williamson Park, hope to see everyone there...we should have a much better turnout.

To me?...not really, you just want your club to be a success.  And for that to happen, you have to promote.  Have you thought about making some flyers and dropping them off at local tackle shops, sporting goods stores...wherever they sell fishing equipment?  Might even want to advertise in the newspaper.  Be sure to include your web address.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I understand.

I put flyers up at all the tackle/boat shops in Shreveport...also had an add run in the S'port Times Wednesday Outdoor Section.  I don't know why folks wouldn't want to fish a less expensive club/circuit that pays back all the money that's put in and keeps nothing.  Oh well, whether it's something that people want or not, I'll be fishing anyway.

Sounds like a great deal to me. After life settles down a little Jan and I might have to check y'all out.

Guess I have to get another boat before that though.  ::)

Should be some water temps in the mid to upper 50's.  Get ready for some heavy sacks.
