What is the biggest difference one will obviously notice about ANYTHING hand poured??

For me, there are 2 major differences. The first is the abundance color options with a custom hand pour vice a commercial poured bait. The other which I think is a big deal, is that you can get some super soft baits with the custom pours that you just don't see with those big companies.

multiple color layers in one worm, softer and also one side will usually be flatter than mass produced lures, this causes the bait to glide better on the fall.

Is it cost effective to to pour your own?

Do the custom color and other variables make a big differance?

I know I get a sense of pride when I catch a fish on a fly I have tied...does this come into play for worms for you guys as well?

I've never really cared of the softness of hand poured baits (I use regular plastic).  I think the creative colors and custom baits are what sell people.

As for the big companies claiming to be selling hand pours, who knows!  I still don't believe anyone  pours the berkley line of hand pours..If you've ever smelled that stuff melted down you would know why!

for me hand pours are about getting the bait with the texture and action you want,as well as the colors you want. i had gotten fed up with not being able to find differnt soft plastic products that i liked simply because they were not pulling there weight across the country or a company decided to trim off the fat so to speak.
not only that i can add scent or phormones to my hand pours,and get a bait i know that will constantly catch fish. yall are right though about how that powerbait stinks when you add it to the plastic and ive hand poured powerbait many a time. when i have i use my own plastic and add the powerbait scent in myself.
i also get a sense of satisfaction when i catch a fish on a bait ive made,or when a customer catches fish on baits ive made.

personally myself as customer look for the quality of the bait, availability/customer service, the uniqueness of the color of the bait, and/or the reputation of the person making them...now don't get me wrong there are alot of unknown guys out there who make great baits but I have also seen some really nasty looking custom pours by both.

Two major things come to my mind when pouring your own baits is .....not only the excitement and satisfaction of catching a fish with something that u created or copied its also seems to be cost worthy when we see some of the soft plastics such as Yamamoto baits now reaching the $7.00 mark per bag and some other plastics heading toward the $10.00 mark. I lost every lure I used tonight stuck on branches so I agree must be better to make your own . Good thing I dont use expensive lures just the frog/work dark colored rubber types but they worked great as did catch some little fish

For me I just really enjoy catching bass on lures that I make. With hand pouring you can vary almost any aspect of the worm: hard or softer, no salt, a little salt, a lot of salt, or add floatant to make it more buoyant, add different fleck combinations and different sizes and shapes of flake, create new and different colors; recycle old worn soft plastics.....
I do not for one minute believe that the big bait companies that claim to have hand poured baits are actually hand poured unless they have hundreds of way underpaid "employees" doing it....

Though I know close to nothing about fishing I concur they move like real fish. We bought pro types from sites and they are good but dont move like the ones we bought from private home poured . Huge difference.

CONFIDENCE!!!!!!!!
When you order from a friend , or friend of friend; and, they're pouring special colors for you, that you know that color will work on a local lake.  Then come fishing day, and you hook up your specially poured worms, or whatever, then you know when that bait hits the water, it's FISH-ON!!!! And confidence is very important when it comes to catching fish. And, besides, it's just cool!!!
