Fished Milford today with some success.  I didn't hit the water until about 5:30 pm but hooked into 3 good sized fish within the first 30 minutes.  Each was around 3 lbs. 2 largemouth and 1 smallie.  Caught about 7 other small ones throughout the next 2 hours mostly along steep rocky dropoffs with 14 lb. floro on a senko, jig n' pig, and a hula grub.

Our depth Finder said 58 to 60 degrees in the coves  and I heard but not witnessed down to 50 degrees by the dam.

Had an ok day on the lake.  8 hrs of fishing and I landed 3 good bass, all keepers.  Good enough for 3rd place ::)  Caught 2 on a green pumpkin tube with a 1/8 oz. bell sinker attached inside and the other was on a green pumpkin senko.  Missed a big one >:( I was pitching a tube and started to reel back in to cast to the brush again and right when I started to pull the tube out of the water a huge bass came leaping out of the water to get the fube.  I wasn't expecting it all at.  He bit off about 1/2 of the tube.  All the leg thingys were gone, all that was left was the main body and my hook.  HHmmm maybe I should start using a trailer hook on tubes lo

Yea I really should have used something like that right after that happens but I just wasn't in the best mood right then, lol.  Unfortunatly I'm a pretty dramatic angler.  Not too long after that incident I pulled in my best keeper of the day from the same spot so I'm convincing myself it was the same fish that had eaten 1/2 my tube earlier.

Not a bad day on the water today.  The fish were defiantly biting, but the hawgs were a little more sluggish.  I landed approx. 20 fish with only 2 being 15+inch keepers.  I lost a keeper at the boat using the same tube I used in the last report in the same location.  Both my keepers came on a green pumpkin senko in around 8 ft. of water along rocky banks.  A big cold front came through 2 days ago and is just now moving out so the next tournament this coming Saturday looks promising!  My partner landed some impressive catches including a 5+ lber with a green wiggle wart.

That was a major front that just swept threw you all's area, bravo on still catching some quality and quantity of fish ~c~ Thanks for the update

Why Thank you Mike!  I'm hoping for a better report next week!  I've got a feeling the bite will be better.  Yesterday (23rd)  There was a huge K-State Athletic Scholarship Fund Tournament sponsored by Cabela's on Milford.  There were lots of bass anglers on the lake for the tournament so if we were able to get what we did the day right after a major tournament I think the fishing will be great after letting the lake rest for a week, not to mention having the cold front move through.

Most definately, we will be looking forward to a great report.

Did you say Cabella's "sponsored" an education event? Hmmmm, might be someone for you to talk to  :-*

Well this report isn't as good as I would have hoped.  It was a slow day on the water.  First place brought in just under 13 lbs. for the paying division and 11 lbs. for the college division.  At launch the temp. was 30 degrees so it took a little while to get the bass going.  Had a brief time of good fishing at around 11am.  Bass were hitting senko's and jigs in around 8-10ft. of water.  All the bites were soft, they would gently take the bait and run.  After 11am the wind kicked up and made fishing incredibly hard.  Had some bites and small fish but no keepers once the wind hit.  Next on the list...May 15th!

I wrapped up finals this morning and hit the water at around 4pm and fished for a few hours.  The bass were defiantly biting (most of the time).  At around 6pm a front from the north came in and the wind picked up and the fishing died down.  Up until then the fishing was great.  Probably the most productive outing this year for me.  I had 4 16+" fish in the first hour and a half.  1 came on a spook, 2 on a junebug colored senko, and 1 on a green pumpkin jig.  Had a lot of shorts mixed in as well.  It was a great day on the water!  Hopfully this front won't last long and the fish will be biting again on Sunday for the next tourney!

Fished Milford last night for a wednesday night tournament. The fishing was tougher than expected.  We had a good turnout with 10 boats though.  There were only 5 fish weighed in. We took second and took big bass.  Big bass was a 3.12 pound smallmouth.  Tough fishing, hope it starts to pick back up when the water gets back to normal.  Anybody else fishing??

mgd0702

Fished last night and started out good then evening started to go south as the trolling motor quit 30 minutes into the wednesday night tournament.  We ended up weighing in 3 smallmouth but well out of the money.  We caught 10-12 bass without the trolling motor though.  Felt good for what we had to work with.

Hey!  Good to see another Milford angler in here!  I have a tourney on Milford on July 9th.  I'll be getting in some pre fishing thurs. and fri. before so I'll make sure to update this after the tourney and let you know whats up.  I haven't been on Milford since my last tourney there on May 15th so we'll see how it goes.

HHMMM... Here's the report. SSLLOOWW........Took 4.9 lbs. to win it.  I found the Largemouth bits to be nonexistant.  Late into the day I finally located  a good population of Smallmouths near the dam hitting on a wiggle wart and green pumpkin tube.

Looks like the dawg days of summer are hitting you  :'( good call switching to the crank bait to cover water and find the active fish ~c~

Well finally got back onto the water after a month of no fishing.  Fished friday and we caught around 20 smallmouth with the biggest fish being just over 15 inches.  Nothing real exciting but a nice evening on the water.

Fished today for maybe 20 minutes when another buddies trolling motor went down.  Its a bad year to be a trolling motor.  The day started off good with 2 smallmouth and a bonus white bass.  Wish things would have worked out.  Might have been a really nice day besides the 103 temperatures.   ~sun

Hey lets hear your tactics MGD, It's be a while since I've fishing Milford as well so keep me in the loop!  My last outing (2 weeks ago) brought limited success on crankbaits and tubes near the dam for smallies.

Well been catching some on crankbaits along rocks where there is wind and baitfish.  Also caught a few on a spinnerbait rolled fairly slow along boat docks.  Havent really been out enough in the past month or so to be able to be to helpful.  Let me know when you make it back up.  MGD

I'll let you know how it goes.  It should be the 13th or so when I can give an update.  I see you go to KSU, you wouldn't be interested in joining the KSU Fishing Team would you?
