97 Astro 2000DC----------all redone.

Totally redone trailer w/ new everything.Wet sanded & buffed & cleaned entire boat up. Working on a 2.4 (240+hp) EFI ovalport merc to go on back.

2.4 (240+hp) EFI ovalport merc w/ mods. Putting the motor together myself. Done it all myself so far. Talk about a labor of love, I'll be glad when I get everything done for sure. Getting closer all the time.

astrocrazy, boat looks great! z22, if ya know someone looking for a dual consoled astro, i know where one is that is super clean and can be bought at a good price. all 1995 model. looks the same as astrocrazy's boat, but blue. mt

Got block back from Jim Ruck & he renicasiled it. 6 new pistons should be back from John Marles tommorrow from being lightened & balanced , "D" ported & top pinned. Next week should be ready to start putting rebuild together. Can't wait !!

Got powerhead put all back together & electronics all wired up & I should be putting it back on the boat this week & fireing it up. I can almost smell the two stroke oil now.

Got motor fired up & run on the hose so far, sounds great ,really thumpin. Everything flooded & haven't been able to get the boat in anywhere, callin for more rain tonight too. Got 4 brand new Goodyears put on & have new bearings,races & seals to put in. I can smell a road trip !!

If I dis-assembled anything as complicated looking as that motor, I would be sure to have several parts left over.

if it still works they are parts that the manufacturer put in to confuse you and make you take it to the dealer

Motor is running great. It jumps out of the hole with a 26 Trophy and pushes it to 6500 with plenty left. Boat handles water really good. I had a 28 Trophy on and was turning 6200 with throttle left,

it was really cookin. Finally all this hard work is paying off. 2-1/2 hrs on it so far. Can't wait till shes broke in.

Thanks going with new carpet this winter and adding 2" of setback to motor. Going to add polished gauge bezels also.

You did a really good job, good work. I need to redo my trailer, but I fear it rusted far to bad, will more than likely have to by another. I have some work to do on my boat also, it got nicked up pretty bad in Hurricane Ike, boat storage blew down on top of it. Nothing real bad, just lots of spots to sand and buff out. I may event get brave and replace the carpet one of these days.

It takes alot of elbow grease but in the end it's worth it. Just tackle one thing at a time.
