That is up to you, It is a choice you have made.. I just hope it doesn't cause harm to an innocent angler! In the word ANGLER you can spell the word ANGLE, this is yours.....But you can also spell ANGER........ by all means keep it safe......

Sorry Allen.  If you get nailed and someone is killed or hurt, and you were running with no lights or anchored with no lights....If I was the lawyer.....I'd have a FREE pass.  $$$$$$$$  ~shade

If I got nailed and died, your free pass wouldn't do you much good, now would it? ~shade And if I only got hurt, or they only got hurt, what do you think you'd get since the ex- already got it all anyway? lo

I hear you Spetro ;) But I for one don't joke about safety.. (I know you don't either) I have known people who have died in boating accidents and it was all due to someone elses negligence to safety....I am sure you have been witness to many yourself.....I guess I don't see the humor ;)

Stump bumper

I have never had any problem with bass fisherman leeting me know where they are at, when I run my little 115 down the river at 35 to 40 mph they all turn on their lights and then turn them back off. I can usually hear a 300 coming about 10 miles away and turn my lights on when I hear it. What bothers me is when the pontoons sit in the middle of the lake with their lights off because they are skinning dipping or one time I missed one by inches because they were crappie fishing with black lights in the water and I saw the lighted water at the last minute.

My point is I don't think it is Bass fisherman on the lake at night is what we should worry about and running wide open at night is just dumb. Dead right or dead wrong dead is dead.

A quick search :(

Harbour search for missing teen continues

Sydney Harbour: Police say their search is continuing.

Sydney ferry crash Police will continue searching throughout the night for a teenage girl missing in Sydney Harbour after last night's fatal boat accident.

Morgan Innes was thrown overboard when the wooden cruiser she was on collided with a Harbour Cat underneath the Harbour Bridge.

Ice Skating Queensland administrator Jenny Houlihan says the Brisbane teenager is a dedicated athlete.

"She works really hard, she trains hard and she's a very talented girl," she said.

"She's just lovely, she's just a really nice little girl."

Three people died in the crash, including New South Wales ice skating officials Alan Blinn and Simone Moore.

Superintendent Terry Dalton says the cruiser was destroyed.

"The vessel was smashed and it's in bits and pieces," he said.

Three of the passengers are still in hospital, and one of them remains in a critical condition.

Police, Sydney Ferries and the Office of Transport safety have all launched investigations.

NSW Premier Morris Iemma says he wants answers.

"There will be a thorough, robust and transparent investigation into what has occurred in this shocking and terrible accident," he said.

Water Police will continue searching for the missing teenager through the night and into the morning.

Divers and a police helicopter will resume their full-scale search at first light tomorrow.

Michael Santer from the NSW Ice Skating Association says the ice skating community is in shock.

"We know that we've lost some very dear friends."

I guess, if it's gonna be a lecture when a simple thread is going, let's take a closer look at it, and even cross reference threads since that was done in the one I'll bring into this one. To start with, I wonder if you were to do the actual mathematical statistics of how many people have died in night boating accidents due to lights not being on, and solely that so as not to include alcohol, and compare that to how many folks have died due to smoking, which is what the other thread is about that crossed into oreos and needing a light to find them. Now, take into consideration how many people stand to be at risk due to someone not having their lights on in a boat at night in the middle of a stump flat while anchored and fishing, and compare to how many people are put at risk due to second hand smoke. I guess I don't see the need for the lecture. ;) Sorry if the humor offended thee, it was only intended as a poke at Spetro, as he and I go back awhile as well.

Have you ever seen a dork fishing out of a T just after blast off and he is number 5 and you're number 21?  The dork kills their nav lights and fishes a cut.  You're blasting through the cut and the dork looks at you as though you're the dumb  :ass

a near miss....and we all have seen it ;)

I didn't think voicing  your opinion was a Lecture......But if it can save a life, call it what you want. Usually the first thing that happens when the spotlight is turned on, someone then picks up their own flashlight to turn on others to take the Beam off theirselves. The difference between you not fishing with your lights on and me smoking is, your not saying you will change, I am saying I want to change and i will and I am.....and you are going to take a stand on that??  lo I am not standing in your living room blowing smoke in your face, and I am not breaking the law, and I am not making you come to the three places on the face of the earth i can smoke. If i was diagnosed with lung cancer tomorrow I would blame myself.. If you killed someone on the water tomorrow fishing with no lights, their families would blame you... Not a comparison by no means and noone inparticular was being shined upon in this thread...It was taken personally...

Then number 21 needs to get a faster boat, so by the time number 5 gets to that cut, he'll already have gotten passed and wouldn't have had the time to start fishing. ;) lo

I'd beg your pardon on that. In this thread Spetro called Fatboy and me by name to let you in on the fact that we were just funnin' a little, and you pointed out that you didn't see the humor. On the other thread about quitting smoking Fatboy makes a comment about being hungry and you remark about the no lights thing in that thread, but no one in particular was singled out? :-\ ok then. Again, sorry if the humor offended you, you took it personally. ;)  I'll not make funny again. :surrender:

Actually what brought on the Oreo remark and the lights was the fact that we are on a thread to support one another wether it is smoking, dipping, a diet as several members are having a very difficult time right now with very negative blood test results and heart surgeys etc.. your right i OVERREACTED to have someone come in talking about eating Oreos......My bad, i will personally start a thread called Kill yourself, others, support noone and then laugh about it... I however haven't been offended by anything, it is a forum and I don't take it personal..However I will respond where i choose just like anyone else..... ;)

Hmm isnt cops suppose to follow the Local,State & Federal Laws?

This isn't being a good role model for the younger generation.

Could someone please cut and paste the law on this. I have never heard of it. I don't do alot of night fishing but still, I don't know the law concerning this. I do occasionally fish the nighters at Cypress.

BTW- you do not know me and don't know how much time I spend in the local community trying to be a good "role model". People make mistakes and if I made one, so be it. I will correct it. Erased rest of my thoughts here
