I'm revisiting a topic that was posted a while back.  I'm curious to know if anyone can give me a straight answer to a few questions that I have regarding the 750.  1.  Nitro's website advertises this boat having a 135HP max but if you click on their video for the boat's test results, you find that the boat was tested with a 150HP.  Which one is the boat rated for, 135 or 150?  2.  Is there a recessed well for the foot control of a trolling motor?  The video shows it but not the website.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I found the video.

Here is what I found.  Off the main site the 750 is max rated for a 135hp but if you get to looking around and read up on the information provided off the link to the video it was crated and posted by Boattest.com not Nitro.

I called Tracker Customer Relations Phone: (417) 873-4555 and spoke with a Representative who confermed a 135 is the Max HP rating for this model.  She also stated that after all their test over the years the 90hp is the best over all motor for this boat.  Tracker has found that anything bigger is to heavy and under acceleration getting on plane the motor forces the rear of the boat to far under the water and becomes difficult to get it set up right to get it on plan.  She also states that with the 90 opti your looking at 44 to 46 mph.

As far as the recessed foot control you can add them any time, but isn't an option from the factory.  Now dealers may be adding them while doing the boat set up.  Best bet is to check with your local dealership to see what they have to say.  I would think that part of the issue with the larger motors is not having a jack plate or any set back bring the transom so if your looking to hang a 135 off the back of this boat spend the extra and get a jackplate because it's not a standard option, you would have to get the dealer to put it on, or buy one and do it your self, but without the tools and a lift for the motor it will be a pain in the ass.

How do you add on a recessed foot control? :-\  You would have to cut a whole in your deck and be a master at fiberglass to make it look worth a crap.

Nope not that bad, just got to have the guts to make the cut.  BPS and other places sell the pan, you just make the cut, slip the plate in and screw it down.  You can use the carpet to cover the bottom of the new pan and your all done.

Thanks for the info Fogy.  I've been checking these boats out for a while now and have been interested in purchasing one.  I just don't see the 90 being enough motor once you put a loan in the boat, i.e fishing partner, gear, gas, etc...  I'm looking more towards the 115 HP with a jack plate or maybe even the 135 w/jack plate if this makes more sense.  Also, thanks for the info on the recessed well.  I would definitely have the dealer install it prior to purchase.  I fish alot of tidal rivers with creeks that have shallow mouths but open up once you get into them and the 750 would be a great boat for that as well gettting out there to just hang out once in awhile. A DC with an ipod hookup will polish the boat off pretty good.

I have a friend here in LA that has the 750 with I think a 125hp without a set back or jackplate and he ended up having to put on one of those whale fins to get it to act right with his set up.

He sure likes it and seams to have been a great boat both for tournaments as well as weekend fun with the family.

Good luck on the hunt for your new ride.   ~c~

I have a 2005 Nitro NX 750 with a 115. It seems to plain off fine. The fastest I've had the boat is 55.  I think that is the max without a jackplate. Mine has the recessed area for the foot control. It looks factory to me.
