Lots of great ideas, but agree...Uniknot is also the one for me. I can tie it blind folded and never broke a line at the knot.

For mono and braid, i tie a uni knot. But I swear by the Eugene Bend knot for flouro. It's very easy to tie and It's the one knot I never worry about.
I've been playing with a Rapala loop for cranks, but not sure if it's ok for flouro.
Anybody know?

Hey guys I will tell you hands down that the no-knot is by far the strongest knot I have found yet...I have been helping my buddy with his bait shop..it is a salt water shop and I had a lot of learning to due as things are different than what I am used to so on the down times I was studying some knot tying charts he had..what I would do is tie one knot on one end and a diff knot on the other and attatched to a anchor nail I would pull on one end to see wich knot would fail first...the no-knot won every time..so I put it to the ultimate test and did a no-knot on both ends...lets just say the 60lb(yes 60lb mono) would break in the middle before that knot would fail...needless to say I know use the no-knot....good thread guys!!!

I have always used the "Fishing Fool Knot"  until I saw Alton Jones tie his knot.  The knot that Alton Jones uses is the fastest knot I have ever used and it has not broke yet.

The knot alton tied on the video is a no knot. The fishin fool knot was the overall winner on Knot Wars with Steve Penaz. I think that was the 2009 season and it was a brand new knot to them then. Fishnfool use to stop by in here and had a video he did of the knot back around late 2007 or 2008. Not really shure on the date but it seem's like it was that time frame.

How does the fishing fool knot compare to the no knot?

bass1cpr

I never really tied it and I've never seen it compared on knot wars but it seemed pretty impressive at the time. I've used a double improved clinch for a long time, it's been dependable and I have a little rigging thing I like to do with it that works for me so I still use it. I have used the no knot and so far no problems but I'm pretty set in my ways that may be age or just because of my Hungarian heritage. This is a place for sharing knowledge and I was just throwing in a little history for ya.

I'm surprised that only a few of you guys are tying the Strongest easy to tie knot there is;

If the improved reverse clinch is the same as the no knot it looks like it wins in 2 of the 3 lines tested & is much easier to tie IMHO.

Improved Reverse Clinch - 17.67 ----- 18.96 --------- 16.46
Fish-N-Fool ----------- 18.87 ---------- 16.27 ---------- 14.99

Like i said they changed the facts for the year they tested that knot.  The data for that same year as when they tested the Reverse Clinch is this
Fish-N-Fool
14 lb. Monofilament                20.54
14lb, fireline Braid                  19.44
15 lb 100% Fluorocarbon        15.21
so it only beat it 1 out of 3
and I dont think that it is any easier to tie, the Fish-N-Fool knot as as easy as any knot including the palomar.
If you would spend about 5 minites learning the Fish-N-Fool Knot and test it yourself against your "no knot" Reverse Clinch  and see which one is strronger. You will see that the Fish-N-Fool knot is not only easy to tie, but far stronger then what your now tying.

I beg to differ on that one, I run 90% braid (9 out of 10 reels)on all my rigs. I can tie a palomar with my eyes closed and have yet to break a fish off at the knot, actually I can't remember the last time I broke one off. Like ANY knot you just have to use your head and check your knots then retie as needed.

Self proclaimed knot... No wonder you test it better... Same reasons you point out for the line manufacturers but your doing it to sell baits while they do it to sell line

for braid i use the old loop knot works good and fast to tie i never brake off at the knot

Deluca

I find the Polamar knot easiest/fastest and it has never broken off for me.

I use a modified snell for braid and a no knot for flouro and so far haven't seen any reason to change. They are both extremely easy to tie and have never failed me.

I am just trying to figure out why you are making such a big deal over not winning this year?   I think we all got the fact that you think you got cheated, but could it have been that when the dust settled this year you really didn't come out on top?  :-\  For all we know the data that was skewed could have been the 2009 data.  :-*

If you want to show members your knot then do it.  That was the original topic of this thread.
Don't turn it into a thread about how you think Berkely cheated.   ;)

The best way to show folks your knot would be to POST a Diagram, not send them to your site.   ~shade

-Shawn-

Ok, I have tied your knot several times and fid it a little cumbersome.  The No knot is definately easier to tie for me. Much faster also.  ;)

First off lets get some facts straight;
1. I have been showing how to tie this knot on my website for about 6 years now.
2. I never did any of the testing of knots, it was all done by the folks at The North American Fisherman TV show using all Berkley test equipment and on a show sponsored my Berkley, it is all their data that I posted above.
3.  I never submitted my knot to the show, they took it off my website (without  even asking me ) and used it. I didn't know they were going to use it, till I saw it on TV.
4. They picked the name of the knot I didn't. My user name is Fish-N-Fool on all my posts on the web so they called it the Fish-N-Fool knot.
I think your comments were uncalled for. Do I think it's a great knot yes. But I was not the one that promotoed it so I could sell baits like you accuse me of. If they had not purposely changed the data around I never would have thought twice about, The fact that they did seems to me to indicate that something is not right with how they did their test last year.

Actually, you are the one that named all the junk that you sell, correct? And you named all that stuff after YOUR knot. Then you go to forums saying "My knot is the best knot out there" and "click the little globe under my name to check it out"  SO, you are the one promoting this "knot" to sell the rest of your junk.

Well heck, it's just a knot . Evidently a good knot but like everything else in fishing its not for everybody. I can't see why it's such a big deal one way or the other. I don't see where Berkley had a lot to gain by winning a knot contest. They are selling line, not knots.
I don't mind not knowing all the answers, but I keep forgeting the danged questions.

FishNFool I think the thing that everyone is trying to get across to you is your just like all of us a fisherman. I know that creating something that does well is a thing to be proud of. It just gets a little old when everything you say reverts back to your knot. I know you se it as your claim to fame and your intitled to that view of yourself our minds are bigger than we are.
You are using your knot to promote your products, we have paying sponsors here and that's not fair to them.
I've seen a lot of ideas that the originators think will sweep the fishing world off their feet very few of them do that, time is the sweeper that spreads them and brings them their fame. It's just kind of tuff having it rammed down our throats. There are a lot of good people here and we are a very forgiving group of anglers so don't take it personally.  We like seeing new Ideas. It's just that we all don't think alike and will make our own decissions. Over self promoting can be a little offensive I hope you won't go away and keep posting your new discoveries here just tone down the agressive side a little and I think it will be better accepted.
