Morning all.  Going to be a long day at work today.     Someone told me one, a job is nothing but work.  Certainly makes alot of sense today.

I know what you mean by today is going to be a long day. I have a feeling my day today will mirror the day from yesterday. I have to go in at 10:30 and probably won't get off until around 7 or 7:30 tonight. I hope your day goes okay though.

Get those steelies.  I really have to do this one day.  I can't believe the 10 years I lived in Michigan, I never caught one of these in a river.    Talk about not taking advantage of your resources.

oh my really???

I got a stream 1 mile from my house and another only around 25 miles away, I get steelies, browns, coho, and kings in em...occassionally, panfish or pike too.

It was from a lack of trying.  At this point in my life I was only into bass and pike, and salt water fishing in New England.  Missed alot of great fishing opportunities.

Lip, there's two strains of steelies in our streams here...they're usually in the stream most of the year, one strain or the other...but sometime in September is when I usually start looking for them.

Lip, I'm told they start to make their runs up the rivers in the fall each time after a big rain.  River levels rise and they make a run, as they come back down they head back to the big lake.  Each time the river rises they generally make a longer run up the stream until they finally find a spawning ground.  Only speaking from what I've read, I have not fished for these yet.

sometimes it don't rain though...it really has less to do with the rain than the water temperatures...when the mean temperature of the wate is right, the steelies come up stream...

That makes alot of sense.  Man I have to get on one of these this fall when I go to Cincinnati to visit the family.
