We have discussed this briefly at a general meeting or two in the past, but I think a reminder is necessary.

If you have a fish of questionable length in your livewell at the end of the tournament, please do not ask the guys weighing the fish to give you a "courtesy bump".

There are always board members not directly involved with the weigh-in that you can ask to take a look at your fish for you.

In this case, they can tell you the fish is short or close, but you will rarely hear "that fish is definitely good'. If that were the case, we would probably not be checking it in the first place.

If the fish is close you must know that you are taking a chance of incurring a short fish penalty of 1-pound when you finally take it to the scales.

The whole idea behind a short fish penalty is to keep illegal length fish out of the livewells of our competitors. It all comes down to following the state regulations.

Granting a coutesy bump at the weigh stand is a way of bypassing the tournament rules and would likely result in more and more illegal fish in our livewells.

Remember, the game warden does not grant courtesy bumps.

my feeling on this matter !! by-laws/rules & regulations PLAINLY state NO courtesy bumps at weigh-in !!! if this occured, penalties must be applied if the fish or fishes were short. where laws & rules are concerned good ol boy mentality is NOT acceptable. we made these laws & rules , we ALL must abide by them.....[ NO EXCEPTIONS ]   thats my take, what's yours ?  :fishy don't mean to be a hardnose , but right is right & WRONG IS WRONG...
