There are several products on the market that work really well in cleaning your boat. Kick-n-Bass makes a cleaning product and there is anoter one called Dry Wash, most may have seen this producted posted by Mike Noble. These products work well in cleaning a dirty boat with out having to go to the car wash or breaking out the hose and bucket. But what if your boat is just a bit dusty from sitting up for a bout a week. You know, it's not dirt but you have that aggravating layer of dust that's knocking down the shine. Here is what you do. Take notes now this can get complicated. Fogy you paying attention? Step 1. Go in side your house and find your wife. She will more than likely be cleaning up after you. Step 2. Ask her where she keeps the cleaning products. Don't act like you know where they are just go ask her. Step 3. Get a dust rag. This important, don't use a wash cloth from the bathroom. Using a wash cloth from the bathroom will get you in a heap of trouble. If you don't know where the dust rags are see Step 2. Step 4. Get a can of dust spray. Hint: the dust rag will probably be near the dust spray. Step 5. Spray a good amount of dust spray onto the dust rag. Step 6. Spray dust spay on boat. Step 7. Wipe down boat with dust rag.  Your boat will now be shiney and the whole process shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes. Bonus: Don't let your wife see you take the dust spray out of the house. When she ask what you need it for just tell her you are going dust. She will think you are helping her with house chores and that will score you big points. What she doesn't know won't hurt her. ~roflmao

Question on the serious side.  Can you use pledge to "dust" your boat, or was the whole thing a joke.

Railroader

you can use pledge or atleast i have in the past, it makes it nice and smooth and when you wipe it down everything comes off easier..

Pledge and any dusting spray that is wax based is fine.   Dont use liquid gold it is oil based and it gets realllllllllll slippery.  ;)

Hate to tell you guys this...but if you talked to boat manufacturers/dealers, they will tell you NOT to use any kind of dust spray like pledge.  Not good for the finish.

Good info, my next boat is going to be too nice to ruin the finish.  ;)

Rattle, I didn't get the specifics.  I know the guy at Legend, when I picked up my new boat, told me that when I asked about waxing and polishing.  And I had heard it before.  I'll ask next time.

I know that there are some cleaning products out there that could hurt finish but dust spray I don't think could damage anything.  It's basically a very weak polish that keeps a dry rag from allowing dust to stratch the surface. If it would hurt the clear coat on a boat imagine what it would do your funiture. Maybe there's something I don't know about but I have yet to see it hurt any boat finish.
