General tip ... keep your battery terminals and wires clean and tight.  Wing nuts on battery terminals should be kept slightly tighter than hand tight.  This will prevent them from coming lose and 'causing other problems.

I had an issue last fall with some electrical problems on my boat.  Simply put, I wasn't keeping my connections tight enough and the plugs and wires had severe corrosion and heat damage from this.

pour Coca cola on each terminal.  The citric acid and effervescence cleans all 8)

Might also want to swap out the wing nuts for the self locking nylon inserts nuts.

Good tips Gents!

I tried using Coke on my batteries and all it did was leave a very sticky mess in my battery compartments  I use baking soda, water, and a wire brush....after everything is cleaned up a light spray with WD-40 keeps them clean and corrosion free for a long time.

i use dr pepper when nothing else is around to clean it with!
