CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Out-of-state boaters would have to buy a $20 decal to use New Hampshire waters under a bill approved Wednesday by the House.

The boaters would receive educational safety materials with the decal, which would have to be affixed to any boat not registered in New Hampshire. The penalty for not buying the decal would be a violation.

The state estimates it would get between $600,000 and $750,000 from the 30,000 or so out-of-state boaters using the lakes and rivers. The money would be used for lake restoration and preservation, dam maintenance, public boat access and navigation safety.

The House voted 236-69 to send the bill to the Senate.

if the money really goes to help the fisheries and not to line pockets i would not mind a 20 dollar decal. :shocking:

I don't have a dog in this fight but it seems to me they're trying to let somebody else pay for thier upkeep instead of the people of the State. Sure doesn't seem like it would help the tourism either.

it wont stop me from going, why should someone else pay for me to fish, they have to pay for themselves and as i said before if it really helps the fisheries it not a big deal to me.after livin in florida for twenty years i wish they had done something with out of state boaters to help spread the cost.i dont feel its fair for residents to pay for the show and blow anglers, but thats only my opinion

How do you go about getting this decal because I am going up there at the end of June for four days to do some fishing.
