Wolf Lake, Indiana
Mid April, pouring rain
1/16 oz. black and chartreuse Tender tube jigs

On the North shore of Wolf Lake is a channel with a muck bottom that attracts hordes of minnows in the Spring, and with the minnows come the crappies...a 1/16 oz. tube jig worked approximately 18" under a spin float with a stop and go retrieve is a definite winner. If you see the hordes of minnows (some will be breaking the surface) don't cast to the middle of the school, rather, cast to the edges of the school so that your offering looks like one that got separated from the school and is an easy meal.

Don't be surprised with this technique if you hook into a big musky either.

Cherokee Lake, Tennesse , EARLY SPRING, bROWN HAIR JIGS ARE A DEADLY BAIT THE SLOW FALL CATCHES BIG FISH ON ROCKY BANKS, Fish aren't real active this early in the year so a slow fall is a must.

White perch fishing can be a blast in Loch Raven Res. in mid-summer. regardless of the weather conditions it is easy to catch at least 10 nice perch between 12-15 inches. all you have to do is set your trolling motor at one of its slowest speeds and troll a small spoon with a worm on it(perch rig). tie a 5-8ft leader on the perch rig and a small inline sinker to that. troll the deep spots by the island and set the hook!

In the hot summer on Clarks Hill lake in SC We fish a carolina rigged worm  Zoom U tail
In pumpkinseed with a chart tail double dipped in Chart garlic Spike It  Works great in almost any weather cond

On Black Bayou in Benton, in the dead heat of summer, in the middle of the day, I like to pitch a red shad worm way back under the boathouses. I don't know why that color, it just catches more for me at that time. But on a lake like B/B there is no cover other than boathouses. When it is really hot & the sun straight overhead the fish will definately be holding under the boathouses & I will usually be the only one on the lake other than the skiers!

Ron Fogelson

tick grass tops crome with blue back in any grass bed

The weather condition that provoked my choice is light to windy warm fall days

why it works, the crome color & blue back mimics most of the baitfish bass are feeding on

I use this method on Bistineau Lake LA

hooked

any time it's sunny and hot on Pickwick Lake in TN, around docks and slips (don't hit them expensive yachettes wi'd dem baits) a silver Zara Spook will pull the fish up from down under! I've seen 5-6 or more fish come up at one time chasing that bait and we've hooked em two at a time 'cause they fight each other to get it first!
So much to learn...such smart fish!

Brooks Lake, Michigan

Schuberts Tube Bait (white and pepper/ watermelon also)

Nice fall evenings (2 hrs before dark) in the mid 70's with an overcast sky and breeze I love slow jigging the tube of the bottom 6" at a time. This works wonders!!! Depth between 6-10ft of water, with a 7' pole.  Work it thru any and all weeds that you can find, works great on bigger bass, don't hit many under 16" doing it this way!

Rainy days on Laurel Lake in Kentucky is a great place to get some buzzzzing in. a buzz bait attracks the fish that are already up it is my favorite style fishing.

jarred

at Fort Cobb,Oklahoma When the sun just starts to go down in mid spring and the wind is calm I will throw a Hullapopper"chartrues in color and snap it hard as I fish for bass, because the bass are ussualy feeding and protecting there spawn beds,The noise of the lure posts a threat and they will defend.
Early to bed,Early to rise
Fish all day,Then make up lies!!!

Grand Kankakee Marsh, Indiana
August, dog days, bluebird skies and high humidity
10" black plastic worm rigged Texas-style weightless

During August at the Marsh, the current has slowed down drastically and the slop is in full bloom, look for the thickest slop you can find with tell-tale signs of tiny openings where fish have broken through the matte. Cast the worm all the way to the shore, and slowly drag it off the bank and across the slop slowly and methodically...what you're trying to imitate is a snake moving across the slop. This technique requires a strong heart as you'll never know when a fish is gonna blast through the matte, or come out of one of the tiny openings from as far away as 6 feet and attempt to crash your offering from the top.

Important with this technique...do NOT set the hook until you feel the weight of the fish.

Grand River, Michigan

Buzz bait (black 1/2 oz)

On early summer days, overcast, with the boat positioned about 10ft off the shore working along the shoreline around trees in 4-5ft water. I do this aprox every 50 ft I go, works to pick up agressive bass that don't hit on cranks or plastic worms

casey3535

Early Spring Fishing on Douglas Lake in Tennesse is a great time to throw a Bandit 300 yellow crawl crankbait this bait effectifuly reaches 12-15 ft and this is where the fish gennerally are this time of the year so this bait produces almost all the time.

hooked

I fish a former fish hatchery lake..Jame's Lake in Memphis. late in the afternoon when the fish seek shade from tyhe summer sun, the water's mirky from the mostly mud bottom, a 7 inch texas rigged burkley curly tailed worm in Motor Oil color is a darn good bait wiggled slowly round lay downs!
So much to learn...such smart fish!

During the early spring when the water is still cool, I like to look for concrete seawalls if it is a bright sunny day. On the days I think the sun reflects off the concrete & warms the water just a little more than the rest of the lake. I like to throw a chrome rattletrap at these, throwing right next to the wall & reeling it back away from it. Then I will put my boat right up to the wall & cast the trap down alongside the wall reeling it within inches of the wall the whole time.

The most productive one I have found is on Black Bayou!

On the upper end of Santee Cooper Lakes which has a ton of cypress trees in about 2 - 6 feet of water we pitch a Brown & orange Jig with a trailer on the shady sideof the tree
Fish slow in summer overcast and even slower in winter on clear days I also like the Boo Yah Jigs, Sunny side of tree in winter

Ron Fogelson

jig a spinnerbait chartruse and white in and around cypress trees

The weather condition that provoked my choice is light windy spring summer or fall days

why it works, the jigging rather then the straight retrieve covers the depth of the tree better and allows finicky fish to hit it on the fall rather then force them to chase down a faster retrieve

I use this method on Bistineau Lake LA

On clear water lakes when you have rainy conditions I like to throw a black spinnerbait with a blue trailer. The dark color contrast well with the dark sky and make it easier for the fish to key in on it.

Cherokee Lake Tennesse, rainy spring days produce muddy water this is a great time to fish a solid black powerworm the black shows up in muddy water and the fish are usually proned to stay on a second longer with this worm so it works for me.

Croton Dam Pond, Michigan

Late summer with a strong breeze and mild temps

Salt and pepper yamamoto single tail grub

I love working off islands and drifting accross the back side (deeper side of the two) and work the bait in 8ft of water. I don't troll, I like to drift fish across the area and let the boat pull your lure everyonce in awhile. This works great in areas where the weeds break in 5ft sections.

Jared LeBlue

On the Calcasieu river when it is stained to muddy I like to throw a crawfish color spinnerbait with a copper blade. The crawfish color matches the water and the cooper blade makes it easier fish to see.

During the spawn, I will fish an unweighted white Lake Fork Lures lizard on the far north end of Cypress. I can let the bait almost sit in one place & just twitch my rod tip making the legs & tail dance in the water. The bass can't stand it! They will attack it fiercely trying to protect there beds.

Lake of the Woods, Indiana
Late Summer, clouds, high humidity and in the 80's or 90's
1/2 oz. frog pattern Moss Boss

On the Northeast side of the lake there's some channels that go back to some isolated cottages, at the back end of these channels are pads thick and heavy...Cast the Moss Boss onto a pad and let it sit on top of the pad for a minute or longer, slowly pull the bait off the pad and in short jerking motion swim it back to the boat stopping it on another pad if the opportunity arises...There's tons of frogs living back in these channels and this bait when worked in short jerks looks like a frog moving from pad to pad...hold on tight! and again, don't set the hook until you feel the weight of the fish.

Jared LeBlue

My favorite color worm on a clear water lake when the skies are cloudy to partly cloudy is a Junebug. The darker color of the Junebug has good contrast and the fleck in the Junebug reflects well under those conditions.

Norris Lake, Tennesse, WINTER days , A silver buddy fished on humps catches good fish . This time of year the fish are pretty much feeding on shad on this lake so the buddy makes a great choice in tournaments when live bait is not possible.
