On lake Cumberland in Kentucky during rainy spring days a simple Rapala clown colored jerk bait is great. On these gloomy days the bright colors really attract these fish it seems they move up to the surface to feed during the rain and this is a sure fire way to catch these hungry bass.

Wolf Lake, Indiana
Mid-September during an approaching cold front with a Northeast wind
5/8 oz. black jointed Jitterbug

I fish this bait slowly over the secondary weedlines when the wind is out of this direction because it puts a hefty chop on the water, the lake has a large number of rodents that get pushed into the lake for one reason or another, and I'm convinced that this oversized jitterbug appears to be a rodent trying to swim for shore. It's more effective when there's a heavy chop on the water, because the combination of the wave action and the inherent action of the bait truely make it appear to be a critter struggling in the water.

This technique has over the years gotten me many bass over 5 pounds...the toughest part is casting straight into the wind because the majority of the fish will be facing the direction the wind comes from.

Right after ice ice out on Mozingo in Missouri throw that carolina rig with a junebug lizard off those main points and it should produce some bass holding deep

Crockery Lake, Michigan, Try working a spinnerbait (white/chartruce) in the pouring rain no deeper than about 12" under the water. Stop retrieve aprox every 6ft for a brief moment. This works for lathargic fish up by me all the time.

i mostly fish the Loch Raven reservior in Maryland. during late june and july ive found great luck using chartruse and firetiger spinnerbaits with gold willow leaf spinners. i usually drift down the grassbeds just north of feather island and fish parallel to the grasses. ive had the most luck on overcast days in the early morning.

now down at Lake Livingston,Texas It rains queit a bit and when it does I will use a small Orange and yellow  rattle trap with the jerk motion.IThe fish are ussually right uder the surface and this will get the attention fast. :)

Fish all day,Then make up lies!!!

Wabasis Lake, Michigan

Dead hot (over 90 degrees) and not a cloud in the sky or a breeze in the air.

I like working a Rapala countdown (blue and silver) over sandbars/points from 3ft of water down to about 6ft drop. It displaces great water in the shallows and you can get a quick drop off the jerk retrieve when changing water depths.

On lake Murray in SC which has a lot of grass we fish a yellow toury grade floating worm
[yellow] on a 16 inch leader with a heavy swivel. The swivel will pull the worm just below the surface and the fish come up out of the grass and explode on it. You will get into this and its like you are in a trance watching the worm

On Cherokee Lake in Tennesse during the swelting heat of summer bass fishing slows down but a BLACK BUZZBAIT fished after dark is awesome. You have to trim up the motor and get in within feet of the bank, just slow roll the buzzbait along the edge of the bank verticaly. At night these fish feed a little so this slow buzzzzzzzz is dynamite. Its also cool because during the night you have to react off sound not sight.

crawl a pegged weighted brushhog, in JuneBug out in the middle, edges points of pad field

The weather condition that provoked my choice is Blue bird skies in the summer

why it works, the color JuneBug mimics the brim or any creature crawling or hopping across the pads while the bass are using the same pads for shade & ambush points

I love to use this method on Cypress Lake LA

.When the day is warm, a partly cloudy sky, and light wind with the water moderatly clear, take a 2 bladed colorado spinner and throw it in the shallow shore line on a point and slowly roll dragging it along the bottom. Some where between the shallow and the deep you'll locate the fish!

then make the next one run just off the bottom...
So much to learn...such smart fish!

other baits that work great in Loch Raven reservior in MD are purple and yellow ribbon tail worms. if you work these worms in the shallows where the warm water from the golf course flows into the water you can catch some big fish. this technique works great during the spawning season. this has worked for me regardless of the weather conditions and its best in the early morning.
PS. i prefer to use Gulp! turtleback worms in the 4" and 7" lengths

On sunny summer days on Lake of the Ozarks look for rod holders and chairs on the front of docks.............there will be a brush pile in deep water in front of the dock....pitch a jig in there and hold on...

Hudson Lake, Indiana
Mid Summer, late afternoon, scatterred clouds, but primarily bright sky, wind less than 15 mph.
1/2 oz. single spin with a Colorado blade, preferred color blue with red and black skirt

When there's a bright sky we work the reed covered points, using an overhead cast and thrusting downward fairly hard, the spinner doesn't seem to get hung up in the reeds so bad, we slow roll the bait through the sparse to medium heavy patches of the reeds trying to bump the base of larger clumps. The reeds are generally in water between 2-4 feet and many types of sunfish inhabit the reeds here because of the sandy bottom. The spinner is chosen to imitate a bluegill and works well from 2 p.m. until around one hour before the setting sun.

Trouts the game and cold weather goes with.Blue River,Oklahoma That is I use a lure called a Super Duper. The one I use is Bronze with sparkles when you pull it through the water it glistens like the sun and the trout cant stay away from it. ~sun

Laurel Lake, Kentucky, windy summer days White Stan Sloan spinnerbaits are great, Just find a windy point and throw the blade and slow roll it back. The wind moves the shad around and this spinnerbait mimicks baitfish so there you have a great combo. Plus its to windy to fish any other baits.

On Lake Murray in SC we also fish the grass in the hot summer time with a chart/white
Boo yah spinner bait just tick the top of the grass and hang on

OK I'll make this the last one  I love this on any lake with pad fields!

The water levels are fairly consistent on our natural lakes so when the sun is bright we fish docks that sit right on the water with crankbaits. We draw the cranks on both sides of the dock and use bright colors for better visibility in the stained water.
I FISH....
THEREFORE I AM!

casey3535

Lake Cumberland, Kentucky cloudy summer evenings throw a simple green pumpkin 6 inch lizard on a texas rig it is dynamite the fish are usually in 10 -12 feet so this rig is where you want to be.

On Ky Lake where its always muddy, a white shirted spinner (LOL, I typed "sinner") is a winner. I like to split the tail on a 4 inch curly tail white grub fixed on the hook as trailer. the split tail give an extra flutter.
So much to learn...such smart fish!

On a bright clear late summer day on spirit lake in Iowa burn a chrome rattletrap over grass to nail feisty smallmouth...........but don`t be surprised if you hook into walleye, northerns, muskies, or even an occasional largemouth...

jarred

At Taylor lake,Olahoma I fish for Walleye during the fall right when it starts getting cold and the days are shorter. You really got to get the attention of the walley they stay deep. That is why I go with a Blood red walley wiggly"deep diver" not much to it just troll at a decent speed and get it as close to the bottom as you can.

Drag a 10in worm in redshad along the edges of boat docks & dock walk ways

The weather condition that provoked my choice is a warming sunny winter day

why it works, by slowing down you are matching the matabilizem of the fish your after

I use this method on Cross  & Cypress Lakes  Both in LA
