At night when there is a full moon or lighted boat docks I like a dark colored worm with either blue or red fleck. The fleck gives off a glimmer in the light which could trigger a strike.

In the winter on clear days in stained water on Clarks Hill Lake in Sc fish secondary points with a white in color soft jerk bait or one of the new X Raps from Rapala cut up with them then stop it and repeat

Norris Lake , Tennesse, Late spring after a flood  the water goes back down bringing with it loose timber. I have found that bass like this floating timber I like to throw a Rogue silver jerkbait around the timber it seems like the bass are just using the the timber for hiding to sneak up on its prey.

slowroll a buzzbait red and black skirt around the base of a cypress tree

The weather condition that provoked my choice is light rain and cloudy warm fall day

why it works, its still a dark color that shows up well but something different than the standard black

I use this method on Bistineau Lake LA

Green River Lake, Kentucky, SPRING, this lake is very rocky so baits are limited I've found that a rattle trap is a great bait to fish it beats off the rocks not hanging up and triggering bites.

Mike here is some foggyness for you

Crockery Lake, Michigan

Early morning, humid and foggy in the low 60's

Pop R (rebel) or small jitterbug

Working them in and out of the pads in around 6-8ft of water, cast way back in (past the pads) and slowly work in back thru the pads. Bass love the sound and you have to have sharp eyes to watch for the action if you get a hit before the pads, make sure you have on heavy test line

Flint Lake, Indiana
July, 90's, no wind, bluebird skies
1/2 round head jig with a 3" fat bodied paddle tail grub in yellow

On the South end of Flint lake there's a deep area with emergent weeds...it's like 20 feet deep and emergent weeds! There's little openings and pockets that you must pay strict attention to, drop your jig down into these openings keeping your finger on the line during the entire fall, generally, the bass will grab the bait as it's falling through the weeds and the bite is very difficult to feel...this technique requires a lot of concentration on your part, but the rewards are great. There's loads of big bass buried in the pockets under these weeds.

I went fishing at Waurika Lake,Oklahoma when the water temp. was about 70 and the temp. outside was about 50 one august morning and this created some fog on the lake.could'nt drive the boat to good in it so I stayed close to the shore and noticed there were alligator gar snapping the top of the water. so I rigged my pole with a 14 inch steel leader and rapped some green
nylon trot line string around it and threw it out there and twitched it around and caught one it was a blast it weighed 9 pounds.

The nylon gets rapped up in all the little teeth they have!

When its dark put on either black and blue or all black chunk as a trailer on a dark colored jig with a rattle because sight and sound will help to catch a monster bass.

A watermelon stud fri on Toledo Bend in the spring during any weather conditions. The stud fri offers a smaller target when the fish have been bombarded with lizards.

Dale Hollow Lake , Kentucky- Tennesse, this is smallmouth heaven, in the early spring a Ray Lewis Brown and Orange gig can be awesome. The rocky banks looks to be holding a big brown fish in every crack this jig seems to be a favorite color of these bass so I throw it with confidence.

Warm spring days, shallow water, bedding fish, sight fishing with a 4 inch Zoom lizard in pumpkin color It just drives them ol sows fightin mad Just remember good polorized glasses
cause the sun gets bright on Clarks Hill in SC

ALSO.......when its dark and calm and the moon is out a dark colored buzz bait
with red specks will work because bass can see it shine in the moonslight.

I like Gold rat-l-traps when it is cloudy.  The gold side is more subtle than a chrome, but still gives off a good flash.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and you'll never see him again!

casey3535

Kentucky Lake, I like to fish a floating worm pink color in early spring, when these fish come off the bed they are looking to eat this bait make a great presentation for them.

Fishaholic

Lake Michigan, Southern Shore, Indiana
Mid to Late September, high skies, mild wind
1/3 oz. fluorescent orange and yellow Little Cleo

Casting a Little Cleo off the breakwalls, perpendicular to the breakwalls as far as you can toss the thing in an attempt to hit the water just past the deep water ledge, drag the spoon slowly across the bottom and be sure to hold on to your rod tight...you're more than likely going to hook into a 30+ pound chinook salmon, the average fish is around 20+ pounds, but the larger tougher to land fish are also the more aggressive fish. Baits that are fluorescent in the Early Fall trigger more strikes than the purely metallic finishes.

Trey

Lately with the water being so muddy from the rains, I like to pitch a black jig.  The black color gives a large silohuette for the fish to see in muddy water.

Mega Strike fish attractant on any lure during any conditions can only add to your chances of catching fish. I like it because it only takes very little and it doesn't get all over you boat.

Blue River,Oklahoma

Two weeks ago
It was raining and cloudy and the river was up.
I tried eveything and finnally went to orange Trout bait by Berkley threw it out on bottom and waited. Some times the river is to high and muddy to use any thing eles besides bait

Laurel Lake , Kentucky, late fall days a spinnerbait my choice being a Hilledbrant 3/8  willow blades , white chartuse skirt is a great bait. This bait targets fish feeding on shad and is very visible in all colors of water.

Hess Lake, Michigan

Early summer, mid 60's and hazy (water temp mid 60's)

Working a double jointed rapal in 3-4ft of water weeds up to just a foot below the water surface

Work the double jointed rapala over the shallows really slowly stopping every 5-6 feet and waiting for the hit. I prefer silver/blue or silver/black. The action and the speed work well bringing up persnickity fish

Trey

It's a smart idea to paint you weights.  It looks more natural to the fish.  Either try to match the color of the plastic you are using or just black if nothing else.

Trey

I like to pretty much stick with a black and blue jig for almost all water colors and conditions.  However, when you have to change colors try changing the color of your trailer.  It will drastically effect the overall color of the bait.

Barren River Lake , Kentucky offers very little structure, during the summer a carolina rig with a watermelon 6 inch lizard is a great combo. Fished on sandy points these lizards are a sure bet .

When I fish near a dam or in deep on cloudy and cold days  At Waurika Lake in Oklahoma I use a large bright colered rattle trap.Because when your lure is deep the brighter the better also the ratteling helps the fish to locate it.SOMETIMES nothing works.
