White Perch

It's been a while but several years ago, I use to tear the WP up on beetle spins when the spawn started. They were real easy to catch. I have two younguns that are learning how to fish. Anyone have any reports? It should be getting close. I was thinking maby taking them to Cypress because of the lack of trees. Any ideas?

Of course, the weather and temperatures will play into it but I think you are at least a month away from the white perch beetle spin bite on Cypress.

I would think late March and early April will be the best time, but it depends on if this warmer weather hangs around.  Last year it got messed up because of some warm weather days in late February and early March.  I spend a good bit of time out there this time of year...I'll keep you posted.

Beagle, last year on Cypress, we were catching them shallow the last week of March & the first week in April. With this warm weather though, I kind of expect it to happen a little sooner this year.

HaHaHa Noble. I've been through the volley of weddings. I guess the fishing and hunting played a big roll in there being a volley.  This ones a little more understanding. I made it clear from day #1. Till death, (or the spawn) do us part.

I will be heading to Henderson this weekend, and i will let yall know how it went, i will be doing more white perch fishing than bass fishing, because i am bringing my son and nephew, they are 7 yrs old, along with my brother-n-law.

White Perch is a Crappie that is what we call it down here, and we also call it "sac-a-lait" which means "sack of milk" refering to the meat.

Crappie, white perch, sac-a-lait...all the same thing.  I never heard crappie or white perch until I moved to north Louisiana.
