I change the hooks on my rattletraps to (I don't remember the name)trebles that are curved. The hooks kind of rotate on hookset getting a better hookup. I rarely lose any fish since I started doing this. It is harder for them to throw the bait.

Adding storm flash dressed hooks to a crankbait will give it a tighter wobble and make it run a little shallower while adding flash.

Put a Trailer hook on buzzbaits by threading a trailer worm over the hook up to & over the eye, then run the point of the bait's hook through the soft plastic and eyelet at the same time keeps the trailer hook from coming off and yet moves from side to side much better then the common tubing will help with the short strikes yet keep it from getting hung up better then letting the hook swing free.

When fishing a Senko and it gets too worn to throw from setting the hook bite a piece off and start over.  Careful, if you have high blood pressure the salt may be too much for you.

Use a toothpick to peg your sinker up off bait when fishing deep clear water. Make better presentation.

Plastic Worms

Modification - use the plastic worm threaded onto any one of these various jig heads to create a different presentation: darter jig, prowler jig, stand-up jig, football jig, mushroom head jig, slider head jig and bullet head jig...great to have all these variations at your fingertips when fishing current with a worm

Instead of using suspending rogues for fast jerkbaiting action, I use the regular model in heavy brush.  This allows me to pop it over brush tops and resume my action after clearing the obstruction.  The fish sometimes hits on the pause and rise motion.  I never fish a rogue as a topwater bait anymore.

Try clipping 10 inch powerworms about 1 inch it is a little better for medium range fish. Sometimes the HAWGS.

Putting a flash of orange or red touch up paint onto the underside of any soft plastic helps attract more of a reaction bite.

adding lead tape in front of the  joint on a jointed redfin will make it run level and stay on top of the water creating a wake that fish in clear water can't stand.

Take a old spinnerbait & cut the hook off bend the remaining shaft around the ring of a crankbait, provided flash, & additional weight to bring a new look to deeper fish

Sounds like some mean stuff... I haven't used eyes on much except for hard baits I might have to try that but I think I will use some super glue

Hey laurie regular super glue does not work very well at all on soft plastic, the Pro soft is the only one I've ever tried that really does work. You can glue plastics together with it to make all kinds of strange new creations too.

Flippin Jigs

Add a rattle to the shank of the hook...sound helps in muddy water.

You can try fishing a fluke with a swivel a throw 2 at once it seems to be good for me.I guess it mimicks a school of shad.

Every once and a great while i like to square off the bill of a rapala countdown, not with a dremel but with sandpaper. Cuts off a foot to two feet on running depth as well as gives it better movement thru small timber in  4-6ft of water.

Model paint is good for touching up crankbaits that have been beaten up by fish and docks.

I've been trying to get caught up with the posts so I don't repeat what someone has already posted.  The problem is that my attention is split between this and helping my daughter with homework.  I'll just throw some posts out there and maybe they will be new...or not.

I add a touch of red Spike-It Scent Marker to many of my crankbaits that don't already have it.  The gill flash simulation sometimes generates a strike when just the lure alone isn't getting any attention.

Modification...add a tiny splitshot just under the bait on the shank near the eye of the hook, this allows the bait to dive more readily.

I like to add a little color with a bang garlic pen to spinnerbait trailers. A single red streak will do.  I t repesents blood.

Take the standard wobble head jig & paint your choice of colors, can create the look of the worm chasing bait, or paint it to blend in better with the stain of the water so it becomes less predominate so the fish target the worm

I like most people like spraying Garlic flavors onto my soft plastics, I have found Garlic flavor PAM cooking spray to be just as effective and it less costly than most bait attractant offerings.

Tube baits

In the gap in the front of the tube add a tiny piece of red or black non-toxic pan watercolor cake before inserting the jig...this leaves a little trail of color as you work the bait.

I also like to trim my pork trailer, on my jig, it makes a nice compact presentation, it also doesnt let fish just grab the tail of pork. They usually take it whole.
