In tidal areas like where we live sometimes "saltwater baits" can really bring in some bass like D.O.A. shrimp.  These little babies are killers in the marshes and lower Sabine River for bass.

When fishing for smallmouth bass I almost always add a little chartreuse Dip-n-Glow to the tails of my plastics.  At Lake Erie it is an absolute must.  An added feature is that it also seems to reduce the number of Sheephead that jump on the hook.

Okay guys kentucky and tennesse are playing gotta go.

getthenet

Add a plasic craw dad to your jig as a trailer the bass just love them...looks like the real deal!

Fishaholic

All single hook spoons

All the pieces of worms that I bite off to extend the life of a worm can be added to the shank of the hook of a spoon to alter the speed at which the spoon wobbles...

Ron Fogelson

Take your buzzbait & bend the blade shaft left or right to get it to run into cover, fish will often smack it as soon as it ricochet off the cover

Plastic Worms

WD-40 sprayed on the worm sometimes works better than other scents, I don't know exactly why, but why knock something if it works.

OHbassaholic

I have changed out the treble hooks on several of my crankbaits with VMC Barbarians.  Having the barbs to the outside of the hook seems to hold on to the fish better and they are often easier to remove from the mouth of the fish.

Late as usual, finally got caught up.

Bait- Brush Hogs

Mod- Rip the "arms off of one end"

Result- Gives off more vibration for stained water letting the fish find it easier.

I take a 1/2-ounce lead weight, the older pill-shaped kind with the piece of black rubber running down the middle, remove the rubber to expose the large center channel.

Now cut the weight in half. (cross section)

Use these pieces (1/4-ounce each) to crimp around the hook of a spinnernait, just behind the head. (use only one for each spinnerbait)

This will keep your spinnerbaits running straight and allow longer, more accurate casts. It will also allow you to fish it deeper if you choose.

Floating Minnow Baits

Adding a tiny splitshot to the shank of the back treble hook will cause the tail end of the bait to sink while the bait is at rest...when jerks in short twitches, this really looks like a wounded minnow.

Ron Fogelson

Once again, I post this & I learned it from Mike

Cut the strands off a jig so the top half does not fold over.  Keeps the jig from looking so balky yet doesn't shorten the strains.  New look, faster fall, less strands to cover up the trailer

casey3535

Oh I almost forgot one of my favorites is to add a small spiner of a beatle spin or any small spining bait to a jig when throwing it in deep water. It makes for more action, it really gets fish attention. But only good in deep water.

getthenet

To hold a rattle inside a tube add a small piece of spong and it will helpto keep it there.

bass1cpr

Sliding a worm inot a tube before you rig it will give the fish a different look and longer profile and added tail action

Glue the skirts on spinnerbaits to keep them from falling down...like 1/8 oz. terminator spinnerbaits....even though the falling down skirt attracts the male bass.  lo

And what is this leaving the contest for a TV show...where is the dedication and commitment...and priorities.  :roll2:

Floating minnow baits

Set line with a bell sinker, then a red bead, then a swivel...to the swivel attach 12-18" of line and attach the minnow bait...work it slowly across the bottom.

casey3535

What the heck I'LL keep going, when fish are short striking add a trailer hook to the back treble on crankbaits surprisingly it will help, or at least it has for me.

BassBUFF

Bait- Baby 1-

Mod- found this through rough use. Outer clear enamel started peeling so I hust peeled it off. Leaves the "matte" finish on the lure.

Result- This is now my go-to bait for shallow water. It has produced a lot more strikes than the exact same one with the clear coat still on it!

OHbassaholic

I sometimes use a Spike-It Scent Marker to mark my crankbaits and hard jerkbaits with some added color on the belly.  So far I have had results with the red and the yellow colors.

casey3535

You can also use a o ring that can be bought in any hardware store to make your own spinnerbait skirt. Its much cheaper.

Brush Hawg

When an expensive crankbait or spinner bait gets hung up too deep too reach, I slip on a heavy off shore sinker onto my line and drop it down. It works as a cheaper lure retriever.

Gotta go, My five month old son is crying, will check back later to see if I won anything.

Try putting a weight 12 inches above your sanko and it gives a little different fall that bass will love.

casey3535

You can also reverse blades on a buzzbait just maybe they want a little different buzz.

bass1cpr

Reversing the skirt on a terminator spinnerbait gives it a more minnow shape and can be just the ticket for slow biting fish.
