Maybe that's the problem?  Get a boat made in Arkansas and the fish will jump in!!!

This topic seems to have strayed a bit...I am going to split the UBCS talk off of this thread & move it into this one...

Fished last nite from 1930 till 0300.  Caught 12, two on a black spinner, and the rest on brush hogs.  The lake was white capping at 0100 this morning.  Made it kinda hard for us to fish in our little boat.

Jared LeBlue

Fished the Grand for the first time today, neat little lake. We have a tournament up there this up coming weekend so we went to check it out. We caught some fish and I'll leave it at that ( too many eyes watching  for the UBCS). ;D Two weeks to go and I can't wait.

Rattle , you are supposed to say you fished the Grand today and didnt do very well and then come to the shootout and kick our butts ---but since you are on fish............ I guess we will just have to step it up a bit and prefish  every day for the next two weeks straight .  ~shade

Jared LeBlue

Chris you and fish for free will be fishing with our team so I'll put yall in the secret loop. lo

Chris

Waiting on a report or at least some results from you Lockjaw guys....... Lets see , you had a tourney at the Grand yesterday and none of you are around the forum today. I would be willing to bet you guys stayed down there two days trying to find fish or you guys had to hire one of the three guides to put you on some fish today after a miserable showing Saturday.  lo lo lo

Jared LeBlue

Chris, it was anything but horrible. We weighed in some really nice fish. Brush Hawg should be putting the results up soon. As soon as I down load the pictures I'll post them. Had a good time and caught some fish, you can't beat that.

Brent and I fished Grand Bayou today for about 4 1/2 hours. We went to graph out new areas and fish new water and actually found some good fish. We ended up with 17 total. We did have five weigh fish that went just over 11 pounds ,anchored by a nice 5 pounder Brent caught . It seems like those fish bite much better during the weekdays. Of course there werent very many boats on the lake either.

Just finished fishing Grand Bayou for four days (June 23-26)...prefishing and a tournament.  There were tons of fish caught....well over 100 pounds for the two day tournament.  Fish were caught on a WIDE variety of lures....topwater (pop-r, buzz bait, fluke, and others), rattletraps, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and who knows how much plastic...from texas rigged big worms to carolina rigs everything (french fries, flukes, lizards, ribbits, and others).  It was very hot.  Water temp ranged from 87 to 95.  Lots of fish were caught shallow, in grass.

The night fishing was fun too!  Didn't catch many, 3 for me and 7 for Brantley.  Got mine on black Ole Monsters.  Tigs got his on worm/spinnerbait.

Before dark, we were throwing frogs at the grassy banks.  I tossed long on one cast, and my braided line caught, evoking a professional overrun.  It wasn't really bad, so I straightened it out and started burning it in to make my next cast.

Now, I was throwing a Superior Frog (those things float pretty good).  I was burning it pretty fast when all of a sudden it went under with a lot of force.  I thought that no way a fish got that and then I saw a boil.  Instamatically, I tried to set the hook - but nothing.  I turned to Brantley to say "did you see that?"  His eyes were bugging out.  I didn't see a fish - but he said that the fish was a MONSTER - probably between 7 and 9 lbs.

I didn't see it, but I believe it from the boil.  And so my fishing career goes....

Fished the UBCS Sat. and Sun. We caught a lot of fish on Sat. but most were slots. Caught less fish Sun. but got to weigh 5 keepers, 4 unders and one over. The only pattern we figured out was there is no pattern. We caught fish on worms, wobble heads, flukes, and carolina rigged lizards. Had a great time!

Chris

We fished the UBCS Sat and Sun as well .My partner and I got together and discussed our game plan Friday evening before the tournament and decided we were going to fish nothing but large baits for the tourney. We decided on the largest worms we could scrounge up which happened to be 10.5 inch Zoom worms (junebug) . On Saturday, we weighed in three overs and two unders but never culled ,our big fish was 4.52 (as I was reeling it in I could hear Trey Cella hollering to get it in the boat from across the lake) That might have been what scared Papas fish off for the day :roll2: :roll2:... We fished the north end of the bridge and just followed a creek, throwing to the edge of the grass while working it back out into the creek. Sunday ,we worked the same pattern- we felt pretty confident we could get two or three overs to help TCTC but we only ended up with one to contribute . On the weekend we caught 4 overs, 2 unders and 11 slots and 3 short fish. Not a ton of bites but fun .

bassadict69

Me & my partner fished it also...We didn't catch a whole lot of fish but did manage to weigh in a couple each day. I prefished Friday morning with Dave the Dope Man...Thanks again Dave!  ~c~ , We caught a couple of unders & several slot fish on Pop-R's & Carolina rigs.

We fished the same spot Dave showed me both tourney days. We managed to weigh 2 overs Saturday & 2 overs Sunday. Saturday we only caught our 2 overs & one dink. Sunday we caught 2 overs & 1 slot fish. I lost one 6-7 pounder at the boat  :'( & Shawn lost about a 3 pound fish just before quitting time  :'( . Had we got those two in the boat...well, never mind! I cried myself to sleep last night over that one!  ::)

Oh yea...We were catching our overs fish days on a Carolina Rigged Ribbit. Watermelon Red/Pearl with spiked legs.

Wildcat26

I hate stories about the one that got away so I am not going to tell mine. But 24 hours later I am still sick.

Rickoos

Hey Wildcat,

I think Merila must be still sick too from losing her's. I ask for the coffee can this morning and got a mean eye roll.........was it something I said????? :roll2:

Yep $hit happens :'( I had a "good un" on Sat. morning and the gears in my reel stripped out. I hate to admit to being a litterbug but that reel is now in the bottom of Grand Bayou in about 20 ft. of water. :-[ I guess it will make a little cover.

We caught a lot of fish this weekend the best part was our day 1 total of 11.89 the only bad thing was having a 5 pounder dye on us in the boat after working so hard to keep it alive. It was just to hot and it was caught before 7:00am. That's a long time for a big fish to be in the boat.

I'm going to GB on Saturday morning.  Anything new on that lake other than carolina rigs on drop offs and points?  Any schooling fish yet?
