Went to GB this AM...it was a tougher bite today than last Saturday when Country and I placed second in a tournament there.  Caught 4 bass and a couple jacks today. My two were both upper slot fish in about 4-6 ft on a carolina rigged baby bass fluke fished off of points.  My partner caught 2 unders on a chartreuss colored crankbait fished at the same depths.  Females have still not spawned yet and seem to be still staging.  Talked to some folks at the ramp who said they caught some in 1-3 ft with spinnerbaits, however we only found jacks shallow.  Should be getting good here in the next few weeks.

Good to be a part of the board..first post, regular reader.  Also good to meet Mike Noble this past week.

Fished today from 8 - 3.  Caught eight, some shallow, some deep.  Did see one little male on a bed.  The shallow fish were caught in the 4 - 6 ft. grass in the coves.  Deeper fish were on a carolina rig.  Lots of people on the water.

What kind of water temp are you all seeing down there?

Went to Grand Bayou for the first time in a couple of yrs today and had a blast. We got to the lake a little late which was at 8:30 am ...We started out fishing a flat with sparse stickups . We caught four fish off of the edge of the flat (2 overs and 2 slots) ,we caught another small over (17 1/8 )around 1 pm off of a point near near the dangAll fish were caught on a carolina rigged watermelon soft plastic, spiked chartreuse in 1.5 to 5 ft of water. Big bass was five and a half pounds and 22 inches long (kinda skinny)...Water temps ranged from 56 to 59 on my good guage. Hope the good bite holds up for the TCTC. Here are some pics from my buddies picturephone.

We found basically the same thing watermelon plastics carolina rigged in less that 5 feet of water. We caught 10 total with only two overs. I will put a pic of the big fish in my gallery check it out.

Went to GB for first time ever yesterday, gorgeous lake. Didn't get out till 1330 and fished till 1730. Mainly just looking around. Caught 4 unders (didn't know there was a slot till I was leaving) and missed two more. Water temp was 65+ on the north side and 62 on the south side.

I actually tried out my new Cavitron Buzzbait I got from the Monthly Contest, and landed two of the 4 on it. It accounted for the two I lost also (I set it too quick). The other two were on soft plastics.

Mike, I think I passed you as I was heading down there.

BassBuff, I thought that was you lo I had to leave a little early because my back was getting to me pretty bad. 65 degree water wow, the best I could find was 57, I got this feeling there are going to be some good stringers in this tournament. I really hope I get to play, it is going to be cutting it close though.

Mike I guess we need to start fishing together I left after a few hours because my back was on fire also, that way we could have someone to complain to that understood :'(

papa :-\

Mike Cork

Papa, we don't need a reason to fish together, we just need to time it right and make it happen. After my surgery I am going to have 30 days off, so give me a week or so and we need to hook up, DEFINATELY ~c~

You are right we ned to work it out so that we can spend some time on the water, I always seem to be out of pocket when we try to get together.
But with that much time we will make it happen. ~c~

How long does it take to get to Grand from bossier city?

Mitch - probably takes about 40-45 minutes down 71 to Coushatta/Grand Bayou.  It is a nice, straight shot for the most part - and worth the drive.

BassBUFF

Mitch, it took me 45 minutes from the Brookshires in south Bossier.

mitchell

Thanks guys. Hoping to go friday for a few hours.

The Bassassassins had their club tournament on Grand Bayou on the 19th.
Winner had 15.26 lbs. with the big fish for the day being a 6.75lb. Bass.
Most of the fish were caught on worms in shallow water.

mitchell

Any hints on color and lenth. Sounds like a good tournament. I hope we can catch a bag or two like that for our tournament.

Prefished for the TCTC with Brent today . We got to the lake about 6am and started out with a carolina rigged worm in 2 to 6 ft of water (fished the edge of a flat)  and immediately caught an under and a slot ,around 7:30 we moved to a point and caught an over then moved into a cove by the point and caught a couple of slots ..At about 10:30 I decided I wanted to try out a new setup I had for C-rigging (American Rodsmith rod and a Trion reel). I was telling Brent I had never caught a fish on that setup and couldnt wait to test it out....  About 5 casts later my line got heavy feeling like I dragged through some heavy grass ,and then BAM the fight was on ,I was wrapped around a stickup and feeling a huge pull ,after what seemed like forever up came A 8.02 HAWG. Wasnt a good day to leave the net at the house.  :shocking: Kinda hard to remember what happened after that but we did end up with 11 fish .. Three overs, 4 slots and 4 unders....Best 5 weighed roughly 16 and some change . Was an awesome day and by the way that was the biggest bass Ive ever caught .... ;D ;D ;D ;D
Will post some pictures when I get them back.......

I'm taking my 2 boys(8 and 5) since there out for spring break. I really hope to put them on some fish. They fish a worm pretty good so its looking good. I'll be in a older 15 1/2' skeeter pulled by a white s-10 blazer. So if anybody makes it down there friday be sure to say hi.
