Are you throwing the traps in the same places as the c-rigs? on points

I focus on grass with the rattle trap.  Points with the C-rig.

What is the water level at GB?  "not enough water" to fish the banks kind of scares me.

Fished GB yesterday from 0930- 1600. Almost the same report as RR earlier. We caught one under and two jacks. We threw jigs, spinners, plastics, carolina rigs, cranks, and the kitchen sink. Caght the bass on a spinner, 1 jack on a jig, and the other jack on a rogue. Water temps started at 50 and ended up around 55. Lake was stained to muddy. Hopefully it'll clear and warm up by Sunday.

Key words : RIGHT NOW     I swore that I would prefish Grand Bayou all month but havent had my boat ready to fish out of since the tourney on the Red. I had several issues that had to be addressed before taking that thing out again. Going to get another windshield now at the Pro Gator plant. That windshield only took me a year to replace.. lo Im terrible with maintaining my boat.
I know there are more folks prefishing than Steve ...where are the reports????  :help:

Chris

On my way back from the Pro Gator plant I saw one of our fellow club members driving north (from Grand Bayou) PoPo  Any report buddy? lo

Mike Cork

Back in town one day and I get caught already :roll2:

Fished Grand Bayou this morning from Daylight to about 1 PM. Caught a 3 pounder right off the bat, then wasn't bit again until about 9 AM that one was a 13 inch under that was and easy two pounds. The Next fish came about 1030 and was a 4.2 again a very fat fish. I rounded the day out with a couple more unders and a couple slot fish. Water temp started at 51 and I did see 53 just before I left. All fish caught on a carolina rig with various different baits. Most fish came deeper than 10 foot  :'( I think we are fishing this one too early ~xyz

Hey mike, terry was down there today and said he saw your truck. he only had one bite all day? so looks like for some it will be a long day.

Mike Cork

If the weather stabilizes it could all turn around, for 6 hours of fishing it was really pretty tough I just got a couple of lucky bites, probably won't see those again :roll2:

man.....since the bite is so slow I think Im gonna sit this one out.  lo I mean who cares about the club standings. Guess I will go prefish Toledo. :-*

NOT!

Mike , I saw someone else ....but it is good to know you caught fish. What was the water clarity?

Chris

Fished Grand Bayou today from 11 am til 300pm and ended up with 4 bucks. All in less than three feet of water. Three of them would weigh . Water temps ranged from 60 to 66. The higher temps are definitely on the other side of the bridge. Water ranged from stained to clear . All of the areas where I caught loads of fish last March are unproductive at this point (too early). Had to search for fish. There are a couple of tourneys going on out there tomorrow so we get leftovers. Talked to two other boats and one boat caught 8 fish on weighted senkos and the other boat got two bites with no hookups. They were both prefishing for tomorrow. I think someone will put together a 15 pound sack for our tourney.

Red Ranger

Fished GB today from daylight to noon.  Water temp started at 52 and was 58 when we left.  Caught 8, although 2 of them were the long toothy kind.  ~xyz Of the six, 2 were weigh fish; 2 were unders; and 2 in the slot.   5 were caught on a fluke and 1 on a jerk bait.   Others at the lake caught them on white spinner baits and Carolina rigs.

Fish seem to have moved up to the shallower water, although the girls have not come in yet.  Give it another day or two for the front effect to dissipate, and the fishing should be good.

Chris

My Temp guage must be off. A guy at the ramp told me he had a 68 degree reading at 3pm. He was in a boat exactly like mine though...Same junky guages I guess. lo

BIG PAPA

Not necessarily Chris you had 60 at around 11.00 and he had 58 around 12.00, that is not that far off and he may have been on the main lake.

Railroader

Fished our club tourny today with a 4th place finish.. we caught 10 fish total and culled once.. we had 2 over 3 under. big fish was 5.10lb.. we caught fish on horny toads, senko's, jerkbait, spinnerbait, sweet beaver. water temp was 59-60- under the bridge, 55-57 down by the dam.. congrats to GEO and partner for there impressive catch...

BIG PAPA

Trey and I managed to finish 2nd today at Grand. caught fish on Senko, 9 inch lizard, Spinnerbait, 10 inch worm. swimbait and rogue. We caught at least 20 today all in 1 area along a creek. Most everyone in the club knows where we fished all day as it is right in the middle of the pocket :surrender:
It was a really good day on the water with a pretty good bite all day.
And we got to visit with the TCTC members after  ~c~

Sure wish I could've been there!  I heard the bite was pretty awesome today?  Works sucks, but gotta get paid somehow!

TB44

how big is TCTC?  do yall fish top 6 ?

Chris

You know it was a good day of fishing when your fingers are chopped up from lipping fish all day. I started out our tourney with five slots in a row on a Texas rigged 8 inch lizard in four foot of water over hydrilla..... this was all in the first 40 minutes of the tourney. The bite stopped in the hydrilla so I moved in toward the bank and got my first keeper (12.5 in). I didnt catch another keeper until 930...It was on after that .........from 930 til 130 I caught 8 to 10 more slots ,2 overs and 17 more unders and short fish. All in less than 3ft of water..  All of that and I ended up with 10.2. Only good enough for 5th place.Went throuh an entire package of junebug wacky worms . I fished them wacky and also fished them Texas rigged weightless. I would throw it and let it fall ,if there was no bite on the fall I would twitch a couple of times then get it back to the boat.
