Country,

I always got an early morning topwater bite on GB by walking a white-bellied spook jr. with a steady retrieve.

I've heard they're going to lower the lake in Sept.? Anybody else heard anything? Chris you might need to talk to your man down there and see if he has heard anything. See you on the water.

Terry , He says he hasnt heard anything about them lowering the lake although its possible. The people at the park have said they didnt know anything about it either.

I know one thing if they lower that lake you would have to camp out a week in advance to get your boat in the water.
If they lowered it 5 feet there would be nothing but channel left. I would like to see that. In fact I would drive down just to see the bottom :-*

Caught some good fish a couple of weeks ago on top water near the grass and
good numbers on the carolina rig.  My buddy caught his personal best...
9lbs 4 ounces and made the Coushatta Citizen newspaper.  We caught a couple
of 6lb fish and several 3-5lb fish as well.

fished the bayou sat. and caught some nice white perch.  All came on shiners out in front of the dam.  all fish were scattered, didn't catch more than two or three fish in on spot. we caught about 40 and all were nice size. plan to go back this week if the wind will let up .

BIG PAPA

Boy we suck up those good reports.
Did you fish brush ?
papa

bryan

most were in some type of brush or trash along the bottom. I plan on going again wed.  I will have another good report hopefully.

bryan

fished again today for some perch and did not do as good as the last trip.  i managed about 15 or so.  not many bites.fished from daylight till about 1.

bryan

fished the grand yesterday for some perch and did pretty good.  i managed to catch about 35 or 40 good size perch.  all came on shiners about 18 to 20 feet deep. never caught more than 2 or 3 in one spot.

Mike Cork

Bryan, do you just drift the main river channel for them this time of year  ???

mike all i do is just drift out in front of the dam and try to stay in 18 to 20 feet of water. most of the time i find them sitting right on the bottom.

A little birdie told me that you could hook into some nice bass with a trap out in front to the community hole.  "Stumps on the left that WE all fished during our TCTC club tournament."  Was told to sit deep cast shallow & hold on.  After 9 or 10 am move off to deeper water and go to a C-rig

I hit the lake at just after 11am and fished until 1pm. Water temps ranged from 51 to 55 and the lake is mostly clear to a opaque green (light in color). The lake is down about 2 feet and is easy to run as well as load and unload. The Crappie are biting as I saw several boats catching and one guy cleaning some really good ones...Off topic. Anyhow, I caught 5 bass and 2 jacks, 4 unders and 1 dink. All my fish came on a 3/8th oz olive green jig with a watermelon baby brush hawg trailer in 4 foot of water or less. I did miss one on a C-Rig (that makes 3 fish that I have missed in the last week on the c-rig-don't know how that happens). Winds were light (less than 10mph) out of the sout/southwest, and the air temps were 40 to 62 in the short time I was there. Not a bad day for only 2 hours. ......Dave

Oh, and by the way, there were no bass fishermen that I saw..all were crappie fishing....Dave

Dave, were you working the jig off the banks, docks, trees stumps?

I was waiting for someone to ask....being that there are only a handful of docks I didn't want to say anything, but yes, they all came off of docks....Dave

Fished Grand Bayou from 2pm until 5pm . Tried all of the spots that Ive caught fish from before and didnt get a bump. We threw spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs and even worms. I finally decided to move in to the docks and I missed one on a pumpkin jig ,my brother threw back in and broke off on what I think was the same fish I missed .He was throwing a 7.5 Culprit worm in Blue Gill color . That was the only action we had on the day . It was cloudy and very windy and the water temp was 55 - 57 .
