When fishing in low light conditions you a spinnerbait with a colorado blade, to give you some extra thump. Also it is best to use a trailer that is contrast in color to the skirt, this makes a better target in the low light.

When fishing in the cold weather use a bigger lure, go deeper, and move it slower!

All ways All ways use a trailer hook when fishing a buzz-bait it doesn't hinder your retrieve and more then doubles you hook-up rate.

Jared LeBlue

To remove a pork chunk from your jig without tearing it or cutting it simply pull the the hook through the meaty part until you pass the barb then rotate the pork chunk on the hook til its facing the opposite way and pull it off. Basically pull up, turn ,and pull. It's easy and it saves your chunks to be used another day.

When fishing a soft plastic jerk bait use a small sweavel and a leader. This will cut down on line twist.

Use a bead between the weight and hook for texas rigged worms for added sound.

When Texas rigging your worm ..use a little super glue to keep it connected to the weight, glue sets up in seconds

calincalif50

Keep those little tiny packs of dessicant you find in Jerky and other food packages...they work really well in the tackle box to help absorb moisture

Ron Fogelson

If you crimp the rivet on a buzz-bait to keep it from turning & then crimp the edges of the rivet to put groves all around it, will cause a loud squeak

Ron Fogelson

Do something brand new with a C-rig, instead of a soft plastic, tie on a floating jerk bait

Tungsten weights are not the easiest to peg. I like the bass pro tungsten weights they have a shape closer to a lead weight. Most all tungsten weights now have an insert in them. The small inside diamater of the insert does not allow for the traditional methods of pegging. I 've borrowed an idea from the mojo rig. I use the threader from my mojo rig kit and the rubber skirt material to peg my tungsten weights. They have enough tension to keep the weight pegged while working it through cover and when the fish tries to shake your worm the weight will slide up the line making it harder for the fish to throw your bait. After you land the fish you just slide the weight back to the hook and your fishing again.

When you get a bite while night fishing try setting the hook in a down ward sweeping action, may take some getting used to but oh so much better then a normal hook set if you get a swing & a miss, will keep the bait from flying back @ you in the dark at the speed of sound.

OK we have this post read 69 times and just a few posts, come on don't be shy, tell us what you know, share the trade secrets   ;D

Ron Fogelson

If you put a split ring onto a stick bait you can get away with using heaveyer line while trying to walk the dog as the ring will allow the bait to move freely

After this contest is over, get a print of it and put it in your log book on your boat!!

calincalif50

Ever loose your skirts....no not you ladies...the fishing skirts of course,  when in a pinch I use some of that mylar stripsthat you put in water with candles.   the mylar sure makes the lure stand out with tons of flash

Ron Fogelson

If you like using a trailer hook on a buzz or spinner bait try threading a simple double tail soft plastic trailer over the stinger hook.  This does 2 tings for you, one helps hind the extra hook and two the trailer acts as a holder to keep you stinger on the main hook.

calincalif50

Don't throw away thoise old lures you discover in the weeds along the shore line...use them to create your own and experiment with something the fish have never seen...you never know

The next time you get hung up don't start poping the rid tip. Just lift and extend your arm like the statue of liberty then lift gently. IF still hung raise your other hand to the line for a bow pop i'll bet before you let go your bait will be free then just drop your arm and your bait will still be in the cover. This has worked for everyone I have taught it to 90% fewer break offs.

Fish-N-Fool Lures

When fishing for trophy size bass try stitching your baits across the bottom at a rate of about 3 " to 6" per min. Stitching is moving your bait just by gathering line up in your hand by palming it a little at a time (about 3 ") much like that fly fishermen do when working a wet fly only a little slower.
This method works great with live bait like crawdads or with big plastic worms. After you take up about 2 ft of line by hand reel up and start over. It may take you 30 min. to fish 5 ft. but if you want monster bass this is a very productive way to boat em.

If you find your bait hung in some cover, before you put the tolling motor on high & go in after it, try pitching in a big worm with the weight pegged, work the area over good before retrieving your 1st lure.  It has paid off big time for me in past trips
