TimTool Shelbyville is no mud puddle. If you want to fish a mud puddle go to Rend lake. Newton is on the list as soon as we come up with another 25 horse. It can be awesome. It's an easy two hour drive for us but it's well worth it when you catch it right.

I hope to see you all come on back and keep us posted on your fishing and anything else that you find intresting. I encourage all to post your fishing reports in the Reports section. I have noticed that if you post, you most likely will get a response and may get a question or two. It is a great way to learn more not only about your home waters but waters like yours from all over the country..Good luck all and keep us updated....Dave

Hi ya Tim when's the next "Tool Time Show"  lo Just kidding ya. Where do you work at down there I fish Lake Shelbyville quite a bite and will be comeing back down there for 17 days again the first two weeks of May and given the right conditions it can be a mud hole more so on the North End past Findly Bridge. There are lots of nice fish in that lake Bass,Muskie,Crappie,Walleye and kitty-kats too. We usually fish for Crappie but have hooked into all of the above while jigging for Crappie with a 12' Crappie rod. :shocking: and boy let me tell you it gets to be a challange to land a good size Bass on one of them things ;D but it can be done. May be if your around and have any free time in May we could get together for a little fishing  8) My friend lives down there and I know he wouldn't mind ya taging along with us. Just a thought

Shoot, just saw this and since I`m new, I might as well give a  brief discription of myself. I`m 43, single, and retired Air Force. I now work as a civilian on Offutt AFB. Been here 10 years and have met some great fishermen as well as great people. This seems to be a great site that I hope to enjoy for a long time.

Mike Noble

Hey ripnlips...thanks for giving us the information.  We look forward to reading about the fishing in your area.

Hey mike, yea that`s me in the front holding the fish. That was my old Nitro. Now I run a 19ft Rajun Cajun. I love it. probably 6-8 inches of ice on the lakes so you won`t be getting any fishing reports til april, LOL.....It sure sucks having to winterize a boat!!!!!  LOL

Mike Cork

Ice out is not a cool thing. We winterize around here too... Got to make sure you put the lower unit all the way down so there is not water left in it ;) it might freeze and get you into trouble when you got to start it the next morning. But thankfully that is only about two weeks out of the year lo Rajun Cajun. Mike Dundee on the site runs one of those as well and loves it also. I have never been in one but have never heard anything bad about them. I run a Cobra. Speaking of Dundee, he is the one that does all of our siggy's as well. Thanks for posting in this thread, get your folks from the Offut Club to swing by when the get the chance.

OK... I've been out here now for about 4-weeks after getting our bass club board set-up. (Thank you Laurie!) I figured it was about time to put a few lines down about myself.

I am President of the "Steel City Bassmasters." We are out of Granite City, Illinois. (a town built on the steel industry and located just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis) I founded the club back in 1989 and the members just keep re-electing me.

I actually live in Collinsville, IL. 44-years old and married to Cindy (also in 1989). We have no children unless you count the 4 dogs. Cindy has started getting into the bass fishing in the last five years or so. She entered one tournament with me though and decided that was enough.

Been fishing since I was a small child and still get pretty excited about it every time I get the opportunity. I have really gotten wrapped-up in the bass fishing for the last 20-years or so and the bass club has allowed me the opportunity to satisfy my need to get out on the water often.

Every summer we vacation in Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana where I spend 2-weeks fly-fishing for Trout. (which is what I did all the time prior to catching the bass fishing bug)

I have one fishing "claim to fame." I wrote a theme song for a nationally televised outdoor show called "Outdoors In The Heartland" and when you see the show, that's me playing the guitar and singing during the opening credits. The show has had my song on there since 1996 and is seen on "OLN", "The Outdoor Network", and regional "Fox Sports Net" affiliates.

I can't put into words, what a great group of people we have in the Steel City Bassmasters. I truly enjoy the friendships that I have made as a result of being a part of this group. There is a moderately competitive camaraderie that we share and I think we all enjoy each other's company. I am confident that we go about things differently than other groups and I'm very proud of the results.

Looking forward to getting more involved in this forum.

Heagster, It is obvious that you have a great group of people in your club and I can't wait to get them all on board and share there experiences with us. I will be watching for your show this weekend, I think that is really neat. Between you and Oneverswane I bet the over night stays at your events are a blast. Hopefully Laurie and I will be able to attend one soon. One thing I ask everyone is "what type of boat do you run?"

Thanks Mike!

I have a 21-foot "Express" dual-console bass boat with a 150 OptiMax.

It's like a barge and it goes just about anywhere. (especially through those cedar trees at Table Rock Lake)

Cool, I sure do miss those cedar trees. My old man lives in Springfeild and I get to go back once in a while but never do get much fishing in.

Heagster,

I watch that show every week religioulsy. Thats a great title song, congrats and welcome to the board.

Heagster

Thanks "Lipster",

Glad you like the show. The hosts have been telling me for 9 years that I might become a guest angler on the show sometime, but that has never happened.

I just don't push when it comes to those sorts of things.

By the way, next time you hear the song, that is just two people doing the whole thing. I am on guitar and vocals, and  friend of mine (who is a professional musician in a bluegrass band) is playing the banjo, fiddle, and mandolin. In 3-hours we were able to come up with all of the re-dubbing. It was my only experience in a real recording studio and a lot of fun.

Check out my name in the closing credits. Like I said before, it is my only fishing claim to fame.

Hagster,

I take alot of trips to the St louis area.  Since the airlines won't allow me to check my boat as luggage  lo I usually fish from shore when I am there.  I have fished the August Busch lakes on several occasions.  One time I actually packed up my float tube to hit those lakes, but in the end it was alot of bulk to carry when I was only going to fish 1 or 2 hours.  Maybe we could hook up sometime the next time I fly to St. Louis.  Welcome aboard and look forward to your posts.

Dean Machine,

I'd be happy to hit the water with you when you're in town.

The one you should hook-up with is Bass1CPR. (he lives just down the road from me.)

He has a lake in his backyard that has been the basis of many a fish story.

Well I guess I've been looking at this thread long enough  ;D My real name is Jerry and I live in Illinois . I was raised in the Big ol Country of Texas  I'm a Viet Nam Vet
and have live in or traveled through just about every state except Alaska. When I got back from Viet Nam and broke up with my first wife I bought a motorcycle and joined a gang for a few years traveled around the country on the lamb so to speak.
I started fishing in the Children's home in Dallas Texas where I was brought up. There was about 400 kids in that Baptist Home and they had several fishing pond around the place Now I didn't have any fancy fishing stuff to speak of I used a stick cut out of a tree for a fishing pole and some thread for fishing line . Some of the other kids who had family come and visit them had some fishing hooks or we would have had to make them out of safety pins.
Well that was a long time ago and I'm still fishing and I better stop now cause as you can tell and you parable won't believe it I'm really a quite and shy person and don't really talk a lot just ask my wife Diana  ;D I am also a member of the NAFC and that's where I  ran into Mother Nature when she came over there and I liked her right off I could tell she was good people so I like good people and I dropped by here in Oct. for a visit and I've been here ever since. This is getting long so I better stop.  I was also chosen BB Personality Of The Year by the members on the NAFC BB on New Years eve . Well enough about me. I told ya eye got JABBER FINGERS  :roll2: :roll2: :-[ lo lo

Well, i am from Alabama, have lived here all my life.  I work as a diesel mechanic for a Transportation Company.

I have 2 little girls, one 2 1/2 the other is 6 months old.

I live approx. 6 miles from the Tenn. River.  Better known as Guntersville Lake. But we just call it the river. :D  I have fished this river since i was a kid, and there are still  some spots i haven't fished.

Actually made my first ever trip to the "Guntersville" Lake area last may.  Put in at the State Park and fished a small tourney put on by a hunting website.

I have fished the river thorughly from the South Sauty Creek area, all the way to Bridgeport and the places in between.

I love this area of Alabama, great hunting and fishing year 'round here.

I can't wait till my kids get older so i can carry them with me.  The oldest one is a handle on land, let alone in a boat.

I had the best year fishing last year.  Caught the most and biggest fish in a creek 10 mins from the house here.  Hunting took away from my fishing a few years ago.  But now, im trying to balance it out.   I have a small boat (14ft) so its not a speed demon, but she floats and runs.   Can't wait till the grass  makes another apperance on the Big-G!!!

Other than fishing, i love archery and target shooting.  If im in the outdoors, im happy.
