Just wondering what people would pick over the other, been looking really hard at the new aluminum Triton VT-19.

Specs:

Triton:
Length - 19
Beam - 90""
Bottom Width - 64""
Side depth - 24""
Hull gauge - 100 ga
Transom Height - 20""
Fuel Capacity - 22 gal.
Recommended Horsepower Range - 75-135
Approximate hull weight - 1110 lbs
Max Person Capacity - 4/600 lbs

Tracker:
Length 18' 8''
Beam 89"
Transom Height 22"
Bottom Width 60"
Max. Recommended HP 135 HP
Max. Person Capacity 5 Persons
Max. Person Weight 685 Lbs.
Max. Weight Capacity  1235 Lbs.
Weight (approx.) 1075 Lbs

Prices, the triton with a 115, I was quoted at $18,300 from a dealership, the tracker is just going by the website and it says, $19,740 and $23,540 for the 135. I know I could get the 135 on the triton for about $20,000 then. So basically identical boats but a decent price difference between to the two with the triton being cheaper surprisingly. They both have the same amount of storage boxes, which has the bigger ones I dont know. The triton dealership is 6hrs away but can deliver for $600-$700 and the Tracker dealership at bass pro is 2minutes away. So, can anybody gimme some hints here on which to buy. Like which do ya own, been in,etc. I looked into the G3 and Xpress' but they are almost 6k more then the Triton and thats their 17'ers so I could only imagine the 18-19'ers they have.

guess I should add some pictures if noone has seen the VT-19 yet.

If you have any intentions of hauling the mail the Xpress would be the choice.  If it was me I'd get the lightest boat with the most HP I could.
Generally the eletronics blow on any new boat under 30k.  Keep that in mind, and remember you are gonna want some sonar on the trolling motor.
Post the options you are getting too.  Chargers are a must but unless you are fishing every day of the week its not a huge deal to get a lower amp charger.

So the point is that a price is not as much the actual hull, and motor as it is accessories.
Post it up and we can make a decision. If you are gonna save like 1-2k on a triton over a tracker, you can use that savings, while AT THE DEALER to set yourself up with some smokin gear.

triton is standard with a 2bank 4amp charger, a 12v Motorguide FW 46FB/42" shaft,  Lowrance X-47 in the dash, I would put something up in the front with water temp, etc on it. 24v would be nice, but its less batteries to drain and charge at once haha. and with the boat being light I doubt I would need a 24v system. Might put it on later on down the road if I was to upgrade trolling motors but I would be happy with that.

Tracker has the following: Lowrance X-37, same trolling motor, and same battery charger. So still the triton seems to be the more reasonable and better priced boat.

I would look real close at both of their live-wells.............if you tournament fish, keeping your fish alive & well is also very important.  ;)

I haven't rode in the Triton yet, but the 190 with the 135 will fly, set up right and it will go 57 easy........ I just sold my PT190 and it was a very nice boat......... if you put the 135 in the tracker, you will not be able to put the 12/24 Motor Guide in it.......because of the oil tank......

Good Luck in your choice,,,,,,,,,,, also your service after the sale is important as well....

My first one was the 175 Pro-team with a 75hp Mer, then I got the P/T 190 with the 115hp Mer, sold it before I even had it broke in, now I'm boatless again,,,,, I will be ordering the Tracker Avalanche this time with the 150 or 175hp Mer. It will better suit my tournament needs,,,,,,,, It has a huge live-well (40 gallons), 2pumps,2 re-cuits & pump-outs...........

while team fishing wasn't so bad with only 5 bass in the live-well, I feel that the draw-tournaments will be tough with having to put 10 bass (if lucky) into the small live-well of the 175 or 190 tracker. Now they do have the re-cuit pumps & timers now, but the size of only 18 gallons with 10 bass puts a frown on my face and our #1 goal while fishing is to keep the bass alive & well!

The 190 is a great boat with a good dry ride & good speed, my only bad feelings is the small live-well :(, which I have talked to Tracker about numbers of times, among with some of the other pro-staff team members.........

I would imagine that the livewells are very similar, But the tournaments I do fish are only 5 fish limit and thats if I can even bring in 5 fish haha. Could you fish 2 people off the front deck comfortably?

The service from the triton dealership is nice(bought a TR176 there in 02 brand new, still didnt have a motor on it yet) and everything was topnotch, to bad my dad just sold it to weeks ago, but he gets to pick up his 2007 harley road king classic on saturday.

BUMMERBAITS

I have an '03 Anniv. Edition Tracker PT185 with a 50 Merc on it. It was my first boat I had ever bought. And with the issue I have with mine I will never purchase a Tracker again. I have stress cracks in the hull and cannot get the dealer to do anything to help get it fixed. I left it with them for 3 weeks and they couldn't even get a decent picture sent to Tracker. And my calls/e-mails to Tracker didn't provide any other help or assistance. Not only did they not help get it fixed after I got it home I found out they had run something into the Cowl on the engine and cracked it for me to.

Make sure which ever you get, you get it from a reputable dealer who will be willing to assist you if you have problems with the boat. If your in SC, just make sure you don't get anything from Outdoor RV and Marine World.

Hey there Rickoo's what you up to guy, don't be working to hard.

coldfront

get them to give you a measurement of the beam at the front end of the boat...looks like the Triton has a broader front deck..(better if two guys were to ever go working off the bow, I'd think)...then too, for the same money, you can get better electronics...

As for a trolling motor...aluminum boats are lighter, true, but the also blow in the wind easier...larger TMs are handy...AND if you ever fish whole day tournaments or two-day events, get a 24volt system.  I went from a 12 volt a few years ago that would start to drag after 4 hours fishing...to current 24 volt system (Maxxum 65 AT) that can run two days without a charge...in 'moderate' conditions.  Naturally, I top off every evening...

don't skimp on electronics or the trolling motor...get what you can afford...get all you can afford...

Bassinkorea

I have to say that I'd be happy with either one, since I only have a little 10 foot pond crawler right now.  ~roflmao

MY MONEY IS ON THE TRITON ...Just purchased a VT 17 with a 50 HP Merc. Took it out yesterday for the first time and I gotta tell yeah its one hell of a boat...I have owned Trackers in the past it this boat far beats any of them..I made a few upgrades like a 24 v trolling motor and some better electronics. I fish BUDDY tournys when I can and the live well is plenty big enough..If you have any questions just ask im on here all the time.....Good Luck in your choice.

bassamatic

i cant compare the two but i can say i got an 07tracker pt 190 with a merc 60 hp four stroke and with two people and a load of gear i can run 37mph.as stated above the stock electronics suck it came with an lowrance x37.it has enough storage to easily handle two people.a little more power would be nice for those long runs but up here the only time you have over a 10 mile run is in the major rivers.overall i love this boat and would buy another one ~gator

I can't speak of the Tritons, never had a chance to ride in one. I've had my 07 PT 175 for about a month and I love it. Handles great and has great stability. Does blow pretty good in the wind, but nothing that the trolling motor can't handle.

greg hall

Id buy a Express X19 over both a Triton or tracker I would by a Triton over a Tracker anyday ,but if I wanted a bassboat instead of paying that kind of money for a new boat I would just buy a good used glas boat 19 or 21 feet for under $20,000 there are plenty out there for great deals.

greg hall

Also don't get a four stroke max out the hp on what ever you buy!

VT19

im sure you would buy an x19. if you dont mind the 6-8 thousand dollar difference then go ahead.

i just bought a vt-19 about 2 months ago and i gotta tell you, i love it. the only complaint i would have to voice is if your dealer can accomadate you with  livewell upgrade, get it. i put a humminbird 586c on the bow along with a 24 volt minnkota Fortrex 80lb thrust TM.

The front deck is what sold me on the boat. it has as much or more room on the front deck than most 21 foot boats ive seen. and with a 115hp Mercury Optimax it will run 53 mph all day. thqts with one person in it of course and all my gear and 3/4 a tank of gas
I fish, therefore I am.

Beagle

I'd check out the 19ft Xpress first.

Just my opinion, but the VT19 is not anywhere in the same ballpark as the Magnum series they made.  Triton made a mistake when they stopped making the Magnum series.   The new Tritons and BAss trackers are basically the same, but when compared to an Xpress the Xpress outdoes them.  The downside of this is that xpresses are priced like they were made by one of Jesus's diciples.  If you are looking for a beefy 19ft. Aluminum boat I have the boat for you.  07 Triton 197 Magnum w/ Mercury 200 Optimax. 2 Lowrance GPS units. 109lb. 36v motorguide. Deka batteries, 4-bank onboard chargers, big livewells, blinkertrim, and hotfoot.  Motor warranty until 2012 and hull warranty until 2017. I would put it up against any tin boat any day.  There is really nothing you can say about it that is bad.  I you are interested send me an IM, email or call me at 706-639-3071.

Bane,
Both boats are good boats but, I think you would like the Triton better because I have heard a few complaints about the trackers. The X-press boats are some of the top of the line aluminum boats and I see quite a few of them around here where I live. The War Eagle 962 Tomahawk is one of the largest 19' aluminum bass boats on the market, I know because I had one with a F150 Yamaha 4-stroke. It would run 60 MPH GPS with two 200 plus pound men, full tank of gas and a full live well and fishing gear but, as you probably already know it is aluminum and did not handle the rough stuff as well as a glass boat. From what I have seen and fished out of the X-press is probably the better ride of all of them. I rode in a X-19 X-press with a 200 Yamaha Vmaxx and it rode almost as good as a glass bass boat and it would carry the mail too, so to speak but, they cost more. I see nothing wrong with any Triton made boat.

Fishline

I own a 2004 Triton Aluminum 186 Magnum w/150 Merc. Worst buy I have ever made. There is a part on the the boat you can,t name that I haven't replaced. Trying to get console switches for the bilge pump for the second time and windsheild and can't the part. Try two dealers and call Triton themselve. they don't even want to talk to you. I don't know much about the other boats but you couldn't do any worst than the boat I have. ~xyz

for me it was either the Tracker 190 or Crestliner VT19 which is the same boat as the Triton. after 35 years of glass boats I can say I am pretty happy with the tin. the livewell is 32 gals. the Tracker is 16 gals. I like the seperate rod lockers instead of the center locker. built in tm well. I upgraded to the 115 Optimax, 24v tm, 3 bank charger, and electronics on the console and bow. for the same equiptment the Crestliner was 2500.00 more than the tracker. one thing that swung me was the service at the Crestliner dealership. both boats are good deals, but I think I made the right decision. I looked at the G-3"s and Express, but with the same equiptment they were both way more expensive.

Bane, if I myself were going to buy an aluminum boat, it would have to be an Xpress hands down but, from the two that you show, it would have to be the VT-19 Triton. Don't skimp on the trolling motor, I would go with a 24 volt and don't skimp on the electronics either. There are a lot of the Triton aluminum boats around here where I live and I have heard of no complaints. The VT-19 has a very stable platform and a fairly good size deck from what I have seen.

looking over the specs...comparing the triton vt series with the Crestliner vt series...that has to be the exact same boat.

one thing I like about the crestliner:  the 10 degree deadrise...makes for a flat bottom at the 'pad'..and a rougher ride in choppy water
but I think that's not a problem for me...now, if I were boating on bigger water with more distinct rollers...I could see it getting old with
all the hard bouncing...and the way the xpress hull/keel is designed, it would probably ride a bit more comfortably...

just wish they'd put in a centerline rod box...

that's a very nice boat you have there!
