No...Someone else was on it...Then later another boat was on it! It seems to be a popular point.

I am hoping for warm temps all week so maybe it will be a little better this weekend.

bassadict69

Well, Looks like I won't be a threat Sunday!  :(  We fished from 9-3 & only caught one slot fish. Caught it on a crankbait in about 4ft of water. Water temps ranged from 50 early to 54 later in the day!

Mike Noble

Are you still going to Black Bayou?

I can't believe you couldn't find fish with the day we had....so beautiful.

We plan on at least STARTING on Black Bayou. We very possibly will end up on Cypress although I will be just as lost out there. What the heck...At least we're goin fishin'!  ;D ;)

I got a new camera phone the other day so I wanted to try it out. This is the 16 1/2 inch slot that I caught today. The phone is pretty cool! I sent it from the phone to my e-mail while on the lake. Not the best in the world, but better than nothing I guess!

We fished TCTC today. Started on Black Bayou working docks. Caught one on jig. Many docks later, we moved to a rocky bank & caught one on a white crankbait. We moved to Cypress at about 1 o-clock.

Temps low 50's all morning.

BassBUFF

Got out from 1430-1730 today. Water temp was 58-60. Caught two unders, one on a red crankbait and the other on a baby brushhog. Both were taken on the north end near the channel and grass.

BassBUFF

Got out Friday afternoon. Water temps were 60-62. Caught three unders and one in the slot. All came on a June bug lizzard w/char spiked tail. One of the unders looked like a minature football, fat with roe. Caught all of them south of the bridge in shallow water on wood.

Fished today from 1230 til 630. Boated two fish...one 16 inch slot & one 8 inch dink. I lost 4 decent fish also. I recently switched to Owner hooks for my plastics & have been loosing lots of fish the last few times. I will be switching back to Gamakatsu before my next trip.

Caught the slot on a white spinnerbait, the rest on baby brush hog, watermelon green. The slot off of rocks, the rest either docks or between them off banks.

Water was 68 degrees when we launched & about 73 when we pulled out. Water was 76 degrees at the far north end

The hook issue is just the opposite with me...I lose too many fish with Gamakatzus...Wonder whats up with that?

bassadict69 great report its nice to get a tug now & then!  ;D

As far as Owner hooks versus Gamakatsu from what I've found in my experience as that Owner are a heaveyer gaged hook where as the Gamakatsu hooks I use are a thinner wire hook.  Sooooo what I like is to use Owner on my stiffest rods with heavy line & the Gamakatsu for everything else.  So if I'm not flipping weed beds or pad fields I like the lighter wire hooks as it penetrates deeper & with less pressure.

This is just what works for me, but maybe I could for you as well.

Had a awsome day today at BB after a little trouble when we got there. Backed the boat in the lake and hit the key, nothing, we left the power switch turned on. Luckily though we had some jumper cables in the truck, so we jumped it off the trolling motor battery.

Anyways, we headed up to the north end and about the fifth cast hooked into a 3.14. Trolled up about 50 yards hook into a 4.02. We ended up catching about 20-25 with only one or two under 2#'s. All I can say is TIKI Sticks kick booty!;) This was the first time I've ever tried a TIKI Stick.

Mike Cork

Great report, Cainsw, You said you went north, were you fishing the bayou up there or the big flat? How was the grass on that flat?

cainsw, You have the only report I have heard from yesterday with good numbers. I talked to 3 boats the had been fishing 3-4 hours without a fish. I talked to one guy that was pulling out at 1230 after fishing since daylight. He had caught two. I talked to another guy after we pulled out. He caught a 7.5, but only a few fish.

Cainsw, sounds like you had the best day of anyone out there.

Chris

Hard to beat a junebug or watermelon senko weightless in shallow water anywhere around our area right now.... Its a bonus when grass is present ... Theres a totally enclosed tin boathouse to the right on the other side of the bridge on BB ,the yards that back up to the water (the banks) in that cove were full of good bass and grass in 2003 in early April.(Didnt fish it last April)  I would throw all the way to the bank and slowly work it back all the way to the boat . Overcast made it real good as well. Other than that little pattern, I cant hardly catch fish on that lake much anymore. An occasional 3 pounder by the bridge is all Ive caught since.

cainsw

We were fishing the flats and down the bank line. Lots of grass up there. We went back this morning from about 9-1 and caught about 10 more. First one (just over 3#'s) was caught on a watermelon/flake  TIKI on the edge of the grass on about the 4-5th cast!  We caught 9-10 more throwing to the bank and working back to the boat. Had 5 fish over 3#'s with the biggest at 21 inches long and weighed 3.15. The rest were little. We finally had to bail out because the wind was getting really strong. Most of these fish today come off the north bank line. Yesterday they were on the big flat, not today! I love fishing the grass this time of year. It seems like this is the only time of year I can catch a decent sized fish LOL

Thanks for sharing the good info with us.....I would definitely go back everyday until they stop biting.......

Fished Black Bayou today with Mr. Cork.  We cleaned 5 bass and 15 sac-a-lait.  We also caught a couple of slot fish and a couple of little bass.  Bass came in shallow water on pop-r's early and white spinnerbaits.  Tougher bass bite today.  Saw Mitch and his boys and got to visit with them a bit.  Sac-a-lait came on white spinnerbait, white beetlespin, and chartruese jig.

Had a GREAT day...since Mike home with a good size bag of sac-a-lait filet's and I have a good size bag of bass filets.

Alot of you club guys fishing Cypress/Black Bayou this weekend. Brent just called from BB and they are catching some bass right now. hmm, we might have to have a fruit jar there next weekend. :-* :-* :-*

Took the boys out for a few hours this morning and caught 1 bass on a watermelon red fluke and 1 crappie on a white spinnerbait. Had a good time with the boys anyway and got to talk to Mike and Mike.

Fished today from 1400 til 1900.  Caught about a dozen "crappie"  and a dozen bass.  The bass came on a watermelon senko and a couple on a watermelon horny toad.  The crappie were caught on white beetle spins and we picked up a couple on a minnow.

Mike Noble,
I saw your Tahoe but never seen you guys on the water.

Chris,
Hey I'm up for a fruit jar tourney.  Hopefully we can find some more people?

Mike Cork
