congrats Chris on the win friday night. ~c~ I don't ever hardly get on the computer to look at any of the sites. Just wondering on BB are you fishing points or brushpiles?Looks like the people of TCTC ought to be proud of our fisherman. We can't win our club events but we sure do good in somebody else's. See you on the water

Terry , you got that right ,brother!
We were fishing points with a c-rig until the sun goes down then we move in to the brushpiles at dark. We fish hard til the final cast. We run to the same piles over and over usually several times a piece throughout the night. The big motor is going quite abit.
Half of the guys we are fishing against out there have there own brushpiles out. So , there is a definite advantage. We are fishing some piles that are Community piles, luckily some of the guys that normally fish them havent been out there for the fruitjars yet. Time to get busy putting some more out next week. ~shhh

Terry I think everyone is very proud to fish with winners, I know I am. Also we need to let people know that we fish with the TCTC. A lot of fishermen want to fish against good fishermen and would like to find a club like ours. I have not found too many people I can easily beat but I would not fish in a club that had no good fishermen and it was too easy.
Our club is well represented in local tournaments and I am glad to be a part of that.

Thanks Chris I figured as much about the brushpiles. I guess I'll have to start rounding up some knuckle pins and tieplates from work. Christmas is to far away for trees. Hell I guess some of my trees need a little triming. lo lo Good luck on the Lake Fork deal this weekend. See you on the water.

Fished yesterday from 1700 till 2045.  Caught one right of the bat on a finesse worm of a dock then nothing for a while.  Around 2015 we caught 7 on a c-rig and one on a crankbait.  Two were overs at barely 18 in and the others were unders from 12-14in.  Good day, took one of my guys fishing for the first time.  So it payed off in the end.

C rig is short for Carolina Rig...If you browse around the tips & techniques section, you should find several good posts on the subject.

Heres ya a link...Tips & Techniques

Shawn & I fished yesterday from 7pm til 11pm. Had 1 dink jump on a white spinnerbait before dark...Other than that, NO BITES  :( :-\ :help:

We tried docks, rocks, brush, deep brush, points, banks, etc, etc, using spinners, traps, plastics, swimbaits, c-rig, texas rig, etc. etc...NOTHIN!

TB44

Oh I feel stupid for asking the question about C rig..haha..just ive never been around anyong who called it that!!!haha....

Me and a buddy are going to try the same place and time as you tonight..   Going to work some normal stuff early.. but going to work the black worms and buzz baits hard after dark..

I was thinking about putting out some jugs to try some catfish also.. but not sure about the cat population on the black..

I'll let yall know how we do tomorrow..

bassadict69

It has been several years since we did any cattin out there. I grew up on that lake & used to rund jugs & trotlines every weekend & several nights a week during the summer. LOTS of mudcat in that lake...at least there used to be.

I am looking forward to hearing how ya do...bass or catfish!

jtholder00

Ended up getting on the water at around 6:30 and fished to about 10:30..  Just fished for bass.. didnt bring the Jugs..  all we managed was one bite.. and it wasnt even a great one..  just wasnt much going on for us..  I threw Senkos, Ribbits, black spinners, black worms, watermellon trick worms, spook, and almost my tackle box..  couldnt get anything to even make us think we were gonna get one in the boat..  oh well.. live for another day I guess..

ʇuǝɹq™

Fished last nite in the tourney.  Caught two real solid overs right off the bat at my honey hole on a c-rig then caught a good under.  Caught a couple slots and then one more under on a spinner before nine.  After nine, nothing for the rest of the night.  I need to get out there and do some more prefishing after dark.  We weighed in 8.48.  My original partner is out of town, but if he was here we might have done better?

jtholder00

I went out last night and did some Jug fishing...   had a guy offer me a bass that would have went around 5lbs or so..  I told him I didnt want it.. figured let it grow some..

But.. while out spotting my jugs at around 3am..  some psycho lady started yelling from clear across the lake at us about our spotlight..  Now, we intentionally put our jugs out around the wooded areas so we would not be up around peoples' yards shinning our lights..  we lost a jug and I can only assume that with us trying to find it, a reflection beamed off the water towards her..

But anyways.. she comes out yelling telling us to get off the water with the spotlight because it is making her dogs bark..  and that we dont belong there..   I yelled back for her to shut-up because I have my $60 lake pass..   A few minutes later she yells out.. "I just called the authorities so I hope what you are doing is legal"..   So I hollared back..  it is.. now go to bed..

Its amazing how some of these yahoos think they own the lake just because they own a house on it..

This lady was worried about my light waking people up.. but she hollars out to us from about 400 yards away.. what does she think that did to sleeping people???  ~shhh

Mike Cork

jtholder00 she obviously did more damage to folks sleeping than your light did :roll2: I run into simular things from time to time, I am with you I didn't know that when you bought a house on the lake that you also got rights to the lake :-\ Sorry folks there are issues with anywhere you choose to live, if you are in the city you have loud neighbors, if you live on a lake you are going to have to expect a few things ;)

Anyway how was the cat fishing :-*

We did suprisingly good..  nothing great.. but..   We didnt even make it to the water until around 10..  ended up getting the jugs out and getting off the water at around midnight..   only ended up putting out 15 jugs with 2 hooks each..

Headed to RJ's to get something to eat.. and once there we decided we had 3 choices..  we could go home and sleep for a couple of hours and get back to the lake at around 6.. we could go out to the launch and sleep for a few hours in the truck and then get up and run them at around 6..  or we could just say screw it and go get em now and go home..

Well my cousin made the comment that a nice bed sounds good right now.. so I knew the truck idea was out..  and the drive back to Minden and then coming back in the morning was out on my part due to the amount of gas that would burn..  so we decided to just go grab em up now..

Well..  they had only been out on the water for around 2-3 hours..  and we had 4 fish on..  about a 2lb flat head...  3lb blue..  4lb channel.. and a 5lb blue..   we threw the mud cat back and kept the other 3..   out of 30 hooks.. only 2 had any kind of bait left on at all..  we used night crawlers..

So the moral of the story is..  even if we would have went home or stayed in the truck for a few hours.. we wouldnt have caught much more than we had already hooked..  I plan on going out to cypress maybe this weekend and camping and putting out around 50 jugs and running them every 2 hours or so..

All in all.. had a great time..

This post is to anyone who fishes the Friday night fruit jar.  What do we need to do in order to get in this?  Is it open to anyone or is this a club?  :help:  I am a member of the TCTC with papa.  What I may do is just show up at the ramp and see if we can get in. :)  Are the hours always from 7-1?

Bassman it was ran by a club, not sure if it still is but it is open.  All you have to do is show up at the ramp on Cypress.

Good Luck

We fished the Fruitjar last night from 7pm to 1am,there were 27 boats ~c~ . We caught two short fish and one slot fish on points on carolina rigs before dark. Right at dark we caught an under on a crankbait. We caught another slot around 10:30 on a carolina rig dragged through deep brush. We caught 3 overs after that at around 11:20 ,12:20 and at 12:35 on BIG baits. We fished very hard til the absolute last minute. Depths varied all night. The overs were caught in 6 -14 ft of water. We got lucky enough to take first with 12.76 #. Our big fish 4.58 caught at 12:35.
