We started on the south then worked our way north.  I found a couple real nice spots out there yesterday.

Mike Cork

Cool, did you find the crappie schooled up anywhere?

Mike, Did ya'll find the crappie concentrated in any one place? Or just catch them here & there?

Mike Cork

We caught three scattered and then found a two boat docks with them and one brush pile up in the river that had them pretty good. We ended up catching some pretty nice ones. If I could talk Brent out of some info I might be able to limit out ;)

I may have to drag the boat to work & go a couple of hours after work. I haven't been to B/B in awhile since I  have been trying to learn more about Cypress. Probably 20 plus years of fishing B/B & I think I only fished Cypress for the first time a few years ago. I need to try a couple of the spots I know before the crappie move back out.

One them boat houses wouldn't happen to be in a small cove on the left just past the power lines that cross the lake would it? It ALWAYS holds them. I grew up with the guy that owns it & he sinks new trees every year aroound his pier & in the middle of that pocket. I have filled many an ice chest fishing from that pier.

Mike, I have a buddy (Nate) who's been trying to call you to go, but he said you wont answer or call him back.  He told me to tell you.  He's at 7 level school for the next two weeks, but he has several brush piles hidden out there. He's been catching a ton out there.  We caught all of ours by grass, cat tails, and docks.  I had to go in the coves cause the wind was blowing me around in Nates boat.

Mike Cork

Brent, yeah I finally got to talk to him but I was grounded from fishing after the Grand Bayou incident :( so I didn't get to go. So you just caught them here and there? Did you ever find then bunched up?

BassAddict, I think I know which dock you are talking about, is there a dock that has had the roof torn apart right next to it? If so I haven't fished that one yet, but will next time I go. The best dock is at the mouth of a small cove on the right as you are headed to the bridge from the launch. It is on the right side of that cove, you know you have the right one because there is hog wire at the waters edge making it difficult to get a fish out of there. The other one is on the right after you go under the bridge, don't really know how to discribe that one  :-\

I think the one past the bridge you are talking about is the one with the dugout dock...inset in the bank.

Mike and I might just have to venture back over there one day this week.  :-*

Yep, that is the pier. The ones roof just before it is torn up & has a hole in it. In the middle of that cove there is lots of brush that we have sunk over the years, then that friend of mine puts new ones out every year. There is also quite a bit of brush around the boathouse also.

I know the other two you are talking about. I have caught them there also.

Another decent spot I have fished over the years is past the bridge, keep running straight down the lake towards the levee. There is a big boat house at the levee with rocks lining the bank. Follow the bank around the point & just past where the rock stop at the very back of the little pocket that the point & the levee form there is an old submerged tree that fell years ago. There is no sign of it on the bank so it is hidden unless you happen over the top of it. For some reason, I will tear up the crappie on that tree one year then the next couple of years...nothin! Then one year they will be stacked in there again.

Mike Cork

I know this tree, happened across it one day when the water was clear but I was on top of it before I seen it and didn't get bit on it :-* we will have to check that out.

I dont where the brush piles are, but the cove I found is the last one on the left before you get to the dam.  Sorry for not being so specific I wasnt doing that on purpose.  PROMISE!

Mike Cork

With the flag pole on the point  :-* Just teasing you Brent ;)

Fished Black Bayou today with Mike...not as good a day as we have been having.  Cleaned only 3 bass and 5 sac-a-lait...caught another 5 or 6 bass (too small or slot).  White spinnerbait and white beetlespin were the baits of choice.  Water is up and a little stained from the Monday storms.  Temps ranged from 64 to 69.

Back to Cypress tomorrow.

Sorry Papa.... I was just letting Mike know that there were fish being caught over at Cypress. I would have been glad to give a detailed report but Brent and I arent fishing together Sunday and he aint giving up any info to me. :roll2: :roll2:

Chris

Fished Black Bayou in the fruitjar last night from 7 pm to 1 am . Picked up an under on a point on caroliana rigged centipede at about 7:10 . Between then and 9pm my partner broke off twice with 40 pound Power Pro fishing a LARGE black soft plastic. At 9pm I caught a 3.7  on 10 inch black worm in 13ft of water. We ended up with four fish (keepers) total with 7lbs . Ive never seen so many fish on with net in hand get off in one trip in my life . We only landed 4 of 12 fish. The bigger bites came after 10:30 . Several of our competitors got to enjoy our poor fish landing ability first hand .Im sure the rod throwing was quite entertaining for them too ~rant ~rant. Glad there werent any kids around  >:D

Chris

I forgot to mention earlier but our first two fish died because I didnt turn on the recirc button for the livewell. I brought the fish home to clean them and the 3.7 had eggs. :-\

We fished the fruit jar (7pm to 1am) again last night with alot better results. It was a tough bite but the fish we caught were good. We had five fish bite and we caught and weighed all five. We got an over and an under in a school that came up about 7:40 off of a point. We threw a Carolina rigged Centipede into the school I came up with 13.5 incher and my partner came up with a 18.5  incher .The bite went dead after that. We fished several brush piles over and over with a Texas rig the rest of the night picking up one here and there. My partner caught a 5.76 kicker at about 11:00 pm out of  5 foot of water in heavy brush. We weighed in 14.32 and got a pretty nice payout..  :)

BIG PAPA

Way to go Chris ~c~
Always fun to get a check ;D

Fished the fruit jar also friday nite.  We caught a lot of fish on a c-rig.  We had five to weigh with one over, but nothing to compare to Chris.

Congrats Chris!!! Way to go!!!
