Was thinking about heading to Browns and/or Snyders this coming weekend.  What were the results of the tourneys on both.  I saw 8 out of 9 people caught fish on Snyders.  What size and what were they biting on?  Same with Browns, how'd it go?

If it were me, I'd drive the other direction.....but Snyders not too bad. I just hope you have a Minkota TM, if you have a Motorguide, be prepared to have a soar back on Sunday!! Snyder is ALL grass. Pitch the edge and as far back as you can into the reeds for the bigguns, or wacky rig a trick worm or sinko across the submerged grass for numbers.

Just say NO to Brown!!!!!!

Where would you drive in the other direction?  Mozingo? Is Browns that tough compared to Snyders?
And yes it's a Minkota.

Snyder and Browns are two entirely different lakes. Snyder has grass, Browns has .......water?? Snyder has fish, Browns has......water?? Browns will take the "Fun" out of "Fun Fishing"in a hurry. And this is comming from the guy who took 2nd in the tournament last week. (3 fish 6.??lbs) Save your gas and go to Walnut Creek...

If you absolutely have to go somewhere, try Pony Creek KS. Its two or three mile north of Sabetha KS on Hwy 75. GOOD lake about the size of Bilby. One day KS fishing license is reasonable too.

I assume Pony Creek is a no wake lake.  Do you need a boat pass like you would at Mozingo.  If so, where can you get one and how much $?  Never being there, what do you recommend?  Have you been there lately, I looked on line and the water level is 8 foot low as of June 30th.  How difficult is that going to make the boat ramp without a 4 wheel drive vehicle.  Just looking for someplace other than Manawa to go to on Saturday and I didn't want to go to 3 mile.  Have Boat Will Travel (Within Reason).

Wow, I was at Snyder recently with my motorguide and had no problem. Seems to me it does not matter about the brand name so much as a thing called a weedless prop! Man, I though Skeeter owners were a little smarted than the rest of the field. You disappoint me Jeff! Let the games begin!!! Hey, bet you have a minkota prop on your outboard as well! I know Rod will chime in now! This is too easy.

super ron

What about Walnut Creek?  Does it get a lot of pressure?  How's the bassin there?

Weedless prop and Motorguide......Now there's an oxymoron.....So do you use rubberbands or bubblegum to hold those razor blades to your "Weedless Prop"?  :roll2: Now I do like your idea of using my TM prop on my outboard! Wonder if they makem in a 27 pitch?

By the way, do you use "red line" or "red hooks"?? Probably both...Red line so they cant see it, and red hooks so they have a target to strike at!! LMAO  ~beer~

Ron, I don't remember having to pay a fee to launch at Pony. Pony has been low for a number of years, but I have always caught good fish. I would even go as far to say 18"-19" average. Last time we were there we caught them on pretty much everything. (Plastics/jigs/cranks/spinnerbaits/etc) If it were me going up there to fun fish, I would start the morning off with a buzzbait or frog and then start cranking points close to the creek channel. When I got tired of catching them that way, I would start flipping jigs into cover.

Walnut Creek does get a lot of pressure, but its full of fish. I haven't been out there in a couple of weeks, but last time I was there, Josh and I must have caught 50 fish. We were gluing Sinkos back together out of the bottom of the boat.

Now that's funny!

I wonder how much they pay the scientists at Berkley to develop "bleeding baits"...  My favorite claim is that bass will strike the red hook {on the front} almost every time...  but then I also heard that bass eat their prey head first most of the time...

That is almost as funny as deer seeing UV brightened clothing when you walk in or out of the woods before or after sunrise/set.

Yes, WC is a great fishery, just use red shad curlytails, T-rigged, or weightless senkos on the grass edge (inside edge is really good).  Frogs, toads, and buzzes work well there in the AM too.

Thanks Jeff,

I think I am going to try Walnut this Saturday and probably Pony Creek later in the Fall (depending on school).  When you say "Josh", I assume you mean your son.  I almost hate to take my son fishing anymore.  He is kicking my  ^-^ everytime we go out.  Every since Okoboji last year I am his  ^-^ (female dog).

I finally caught a keeper.  20 minutes before we leave, he catches 2 bigger ones.  We have our own tournement with points going.  At the end of the year the loser buys the winner fishing gear (meaning I pay either way).  With our point system, he's up 34 to 11.

The bass gods have hexed me.

In all seriousness, I hear that Icaria is pretty good now too.  Lots of fish, but probably not many hawgs.

Dean Machine and I are fishing Brushy Creek this weekend (Wood's prefish) Fri night and Sat AM.  Mmm Mmm, waffles and twinkies and diet Dew for two whole days...  It is a shame that the rest of the crew can't go (Tracker03, Skippy and Jav:  Larry, Daryl, and their other brother Daryl).

LoL

Good God, sell the skeeter Jeff! First you have a minn kota, next you recommend Icaria. There are two bass in that lake and they are both gay! Next, you admit to using senkos! Yes they can catch fish but require no skill - oh now I know why you and Doug use them! Never mine. By the way, Late last Fall Brushy Creek was in the paper for a big fish kill and Mr. Humm says he caught over 40 fish yesterday at Walnut.

FYI, Bassthumb is Doug Rishel and Basseye is Jeff Drayer.  Now, go fix them roads!!!!

Basseye

Damn it, sorry Dean, I was having so much fun busting on Jeff I got to excited. A boat pull but with trolling motors. MK has the new prop, which I have, called hydrilla hacker that works great. Ever see the show "Pinks"
As far as senkos go I bet you also use nightcrawlers and a bobber

Basseye

"Pinks"  :-\

Let the negotiations begin....

Since my boat is longer and 2000lbs heavier (Them Senkos are HEAVY), I want.....
1) You to disconnect two batteries
2) Put Doug (with a days supply of Twinkies) in the back of your boat?

now thats funny. Hey, I am not responsbile for getting these names mixed up. You got one guy with "eye" in the name and another with "thumb" and another with "lips". All equates to too many body parts to keep up with!

Skipper (ripnlips)

Wow, see what happens when Im busy pretending to work...I miss all the fun.

You got an ex first shirt thinking there is nothing wrong with a motor guide in the weeds(ha! no wonder he couldn`t work in a real career field).

Then there`s Basseye who`s starting to jump on the idiot senko banwagon.....and wants to race other bugs to see who`s the fastest...(who cares, we have no big water anyway)

And then there`s super ron....what can I say about him.....how about you just pick a lake, drive there, then let your son catch some fishies(I know you can`t)...

Man am I glad to be back  :roll2: :roll2:

super ron

That's what I'm doing.  I'm pickin' Walnut Creek tomorrow.  I'm taking the son with 2 rules.  I catch the most or I catch the biggest.  If he catches the most and the biggest, then he will walk home.

Now Skip, since you like pickin' on people about trolling motors, senkos, twinkies, my lack of fish catching ability; I have a question. How can you let someone in the back of your boat win a tourney? I mean you get to cast to a the spots first. That''s as wrong as two boys kissin'.

~SM Ron

Skipper (ripnlips)

Its called being a GREAT guide, bwahahahahahaha

Basseye

Ron...What time are you headed out to Walnut Creeek? Mite just head out there myself.

See what happens when your not around to lead us Skipper?

Nobody loves me.  I lost the starter in my boat.  Jeff was there, had 3 keepers.  Only caught a few, no keepers and then I was fussin with the starter.  That'll be $200.
