Went back to GB this afternoon for about 5 or 6 hours. Fished some spots Ive never fished before and only caught two fish. They were both caught in 8 ft of water within feet of each other . One was a bigger slot fish and one was an over so I left that area....... I aint telling what I caught them on (Fogy knows). ~shhh lo  Thought I saw a Legend out there again......hmm

Ron Fogelson

I don't know what you caught them on  :'(  What are you talking about Willis   :-\

I do know what technique you used for each but not what you used.  What to share??  ;D

Ron Fogelson

Oh I guess I should let everyone in on my trip as well.

I had 3 bites all day, lost one spinnerbait, one buzzbait and one lizard.  All 3 bites were GAR  ~xyz And they took my toys and left.  :'(

I fished new water all day and know without a doubt there will be no need to recover those areas!

Hot, muggy, rained and got hot again, then a storm blew in about 545 and we left.

BTW, the park is making a killing on folks these days.  3 bucks to launch and another $5.00 per person to used the beach so 48 miles to the lake and 48 miles back @ 10mpg towing the boat and $18.00 just to use the dang lake and 3 baits lost & oh I had to buy a new trolling motor this weekend as well so that Was $1013.00 so this weekend f fun and fishing was dang expensive!

Glad someone is on fish. Laurie and I again caught fish on top water, spinnerbait, rattle trap, senko, carolina rig and a texas rig. Mostly unders with a few slot fish mixed in. I did have one about 4-5 pounds pull off after a good fight but that was the only over we seen, and I reworked the area hard and nothing else  :'( a fish here and a fish there, points and grass lines nothing special going on for us just gotta cover water  :shocking:

On fish?  lo  I wish. Sounds like Team Legend is on fish. Maybe not a specific pattern but you actually know where some are. It is very tough out there right now. I hit a few of the other spots where Ive caught fish before and they are not there or have lockjaw.  :-\

Ditto here too.

Back to the Grand this morning....another pretty fair day but really had to work for the fish..

Used a few different baits but every fish came on an 8" Zoom Dead Ringer - Junebug color..

Got nine in the boat...should have been more.. >:( ..Had 3 over up to 18.5", 4 good slots, and 2 good unders....Had a few others pull off after a brief fight.. >:(

Most all the fish caught were on the edges of somewhat heavy moss in a cove on the South Bank....  ;D

Guess I'll have to upgrade my Junebug supply...only had one package and was down to my last good worm....then bits and pieces.... :)  Was really the fisrst time that color has really paid off for me.. :)

Also a little quicker for Shreveport folks by taking I-49 south then exit to Hwy. 84 near Manfield and east to Choushata...

Thanks for the report Scottie!

Has anybody been north of the bridge or is it too grassed in?

Ron Fogelson

Its grassy, but then its grassy on the park side of the bridge as well.  That cove right across from the ramp is full of grass just under the surface.

I'm wanting to try and look around way up in the creek this weekend, but going to have to take it slow getting back there cause I don't know the boat row yet.

BIG PAPA

If you are talking about under the bridge there is not a boat row there.

Yep thats what I mean, I see folks running back there but don't know it well enough to run it myself.  So going to do some exploring.  ;D  Camping Friday Night and Saturday night and be at the launch Sunday Morning to see everyone.

Fogy

Thanks Fogy. There's a channel that runs through there but it's as crooked as a dog's hind leg lo!

Ron Fogelson

Might have to drop some weighted colored soda bottles when I ride out so I got something to follow on the way back  :roll2:

Its grassy but fishable. There were alot of overs caught back there in the UBCS last year . I tried it for about 15 minutes the other day and left because the wife called and told me to get home because father in law had barbecued baby back ribs.....I left quickly  lo But in those 15 minutes I got no bites but the fish were chasing shad everywhere around us.

BassBUFF

Thanks for the info Chris!

Wow...what a difference a day makes.... >:(

Back to the Grand again this morning...missed 3 hookups in a row then finally caught a couple of small ones on carolina rig on junebug Lake Fork craw worm...one fish was a small keeper and the other wasn't.. >:(

Tried to rain...wind got up a little....didn't get a bite for a couple of hours...(Thought I was on Cross Lake.. ;D)....so took my toys and went home.. ;D

Ok I know this is a bass site, however as my family & I are going to be camping there this weekend & I don't want everyone thinking I'm sore lipping all your fish "Like that would even happen anyway) does anyoone have sme info on Catfish or Crappie?  Sure would like to put my boys on fish rathr then just ridding around behind Dad prefishing all weekend!

bassadict69

I have seen some good reports about people drifting down by the dam & catching some good crappie.

Ron Fogelson

Thanks BA!  Do you know if they were using shiners or jigs or what?

ʇuǝɹq™

Fogy, I saw some ol boys out there a few days ago using shiners around the bridge.  Talked to them and they said they did pretty good.  They also mentioned fishing down by the dam.

Hawgwild

Fogy...you might ask at the little store there also...they may be able to help on the perch..

I was down there a week back and night fished some...I saw some others have some of those floaties out fishing for cats...not sure what bait they had though..

If you go down the south bank from the launch, you'll see some stumps...check on the end of the group of stumps that come fartherest out in the lake...there was a trotline there yesterday...I'd bait it up... :)
