While slightly over engineered, and I don't recommend non-mechanically inclined anglers attempting their own maintenance on these reels, they are a quality reel that most owners enjoy. I don't see many of them except for cleaning and an occasional worm gear / pawl malfunction.

13 Fishing was a great company to work with as far as a shop, getting parts was easy, they were quick on shipping and very reasonable with prices. I really liked them because their shipping was fair versus a flat rate of 12 dollars when all you bought was a spring that could have shipped with a stamp. ANYWAY... no longer.

Rapala bought them and now they won't sell parts to me. If you need to have it worked on you have to ship it to them and they will only fix it after a cleaning and a starting rate of $40. That price isn't that bad, I charged $30 (return shipping included).

I'm just disappointed I can no longer repair 13 Fishing reel. I most certainly will clean them and make them cast better than new, but if it's broke you have to send it to Rapala now.  :'(
