On the water by 8 and out at 3:30 and primarily fished the lower marsh today. Air temps 50-73, water temps 55-59 later in the day, visibility about 1', mostly cloudy skies, wind was calm early and picked up to 10-15 from the north by afternoon and tide was low early and rising but just starting to get into the grass late. river got to just below flood stage at Merrill last week and has fallen out to below 10' but the dirty water is now in the marsh. Caught a couple in the creek early as I waited for the fog to lift, ran below I-10 and caught several on a chrome/blue Booyah One Knocker but lost the one near 4 pounds on it as well when she jumped and went back down. Moved north a bit and caught several on white Booyah Convert 3/8 spinner. Back to the creek after noon and the white spinnerbait continued to get bites but all were just under the legal length. Those 11" bass hammered the spinner and I would have thought they were much bigger if I had lost them, fought really hard today. Did not fish plastics but maybe 15 minutes because I decided I would not. Ended the day with just 3 legal fish and about a dozen short. Try them again next week.
Retired and loving every minute of it!
