Everglades "The Marshlands" 01/03/25

I have been on a roll fishing the Marshlands lately, so I decided to go out again on the Bass Hunter yesterday.
Actually started a little later than usual due to the cold temps. It's not because the cold effects me, but the bite is better once the sun is out for a little while.

I had to call an audible and fish another area due to other boats using the ramp to launch. No biggie, I went to one of my other launching areas, prepped the boat, and off I went. I didn't move right away. I wanted to get feel of the bite from the get go. Started fishing deep, finesse, for a bit and nothing was happening.

Made a move into the flats and continued finesse on the bottom. Caught one little bass. Switched gears and went to a swimbait.

Started seeing some action, but the bass weren't exactly connecting. So I decided to follow up finesse after each swimbait miss. I began connecting steadily with this combo.

Switched gears again, and decided to start throwing a swim jig. That was the ticket! Connected with a 4.5 pound bass quickly.

Continued with the swim jig for a chunk of the outing. Landed several decent bass, until I unfortunately lost my swim jig. Line snapped when a bass wrapped me in thick vegetation. Broke my heart.  To make things worse, I only had one swim jig with me.   

I had no choice but to switch back to the swim bait. The bass cooperated here and there but the swim jig bite was much better.

By the time 3pm rolled around, I called the trip. Ended up boating 28 bass. Not too shabby. Got to love power fishing when the opportunity presents itself!
