Got out today for my 70th birthday fishing trip with my long time friend and fishing buddy John. I think God took pity on me for my total lack of success recently and blessed us with a beautiful day, 60 to 75 degrees and lots of fish.  Despite 11.5 inches of rain on the 26th and 27th and the Bluff Creek flooding we found some very decent water in the lower marsh and put 15 keepers in the boat plus 3 red fish, one of which went almost 8 pounds and hammered my jack hammer. Water temps were in the lower 60's and visibility was up to 2' in places, tide was low early and slowly rose after about 11. John caught all his fish on UV speed worm while I caught fish on the same worm, Jack hammer, spinner bait and a swim bait. Cold weather and rising water is on the way for the next week so I may not get out for a while but definitely enjoyed today.

Bayou

#2
Hoping to get out on the water soon. It's been a busy winter. I haven't had time to do anything on the old houseboat on Summerlin Bayou. My plan is to get back over there in a couples a weeks. Spend some time working on the upstairs and get a little fishing in as well. It's been too long... I was heading over there before the recent snow storm, but I got hung up offshore. Helicopters weren't flying after the snow storm and all roads leading from Venice, La to my house were closed for days. We had about 7" of snow at my home in Alabama. but offshore I had Snow and Ice for a few days as well. Once I got to my truck, I was able to work my way home through the snow. Attached is a photo of the snow on my Walkway and houseboat roof. This was taken the Saturday after the snow storm.
My older brother and his buddy have been limiting out up Ward Bayou.

Thanks for the update.

Keep fishing!

Bayou we had about the same as well, between 6-7 inches and the first time I've seen single digit temps in a while with a low of 9 one morning. I have mainly been fishing the lower marsh the past few weeks and while it hasn't been terrible it has been a disappointment not catching the quality of fish I normally catch this time of year. River jumped to 13' but has fallen back this week with the dirty water hitting us last Saturday and really muddied the waters.
