My boat was out commission this past week. I had the boat in the water tied on the dock. Left to go park my vehicle. Come back to hear the trim pump squealing like a pig, and the outboard all the way down! We were fortunate to catch a break, and were able to trim the outboard up enough and attach the transom saver.

I called my mobile technician, and he came over to the house. At first, the solution was simple, one of the trim relays went bad. Ordered the relays, they arrived a couple of days later, replaced the old ones with the new ones. Problem continued. Hmmmm. The outboard trim switch checked out fine. The throttle control trim switch check out fine. What's the problem??

There was a third switch we didn't check the bow trim switch. That went bad and was the culprit of the issue!  ~b~  Doh!

Now I have new relays, and can use the older one as spares when the relays fail.  lo

Point of this post. Whenever those trim pumps ever get possessed. Check those trim relays and ALL the trim switches.  ~beer~

Glad you were able to get the issue fixed.  Yep having trim issues isn't fun nor cheap to have repaired.

Tks for sharing the post with us.

Glad it was just a switch and not the pump or anything.
