I was looking forward to this outing. Wanted to survey the area after Hurricane Milton.

Arrived to an empty ramp before sunrise. Made a short run to the area that was thick with peacocks before Milton.

Started breaking down the water column and a short while later connected with my first peacock.

Kept working the area and connected with a few more tiny peas.

Made a move. Continued working the water column and connected with another peacock. This one was a little better.

I kept at it throughout the morning. Connected here and there, but never got into them thick like I did a week or so ago.

The highlight of the outing was when I connected with a big fish. Couldn't say if it was a largemouth or peacock. All I know is I couldn't turn its head. Unfortunately, the hooks pulled loose. :(

I had to get going by late morning, so I called it early. Landed 36 peacocks, and 2 bass if you can believe that! Lol!

Had a fun outing. The bite was significantly different from a week ago. Water temps were down 10-12 degrees, and the sun didn't have a chance to really come out. I'm sure these factors played a role on the bite. The fish were definitely there. As long as we don't get any cold fronts any time soon, I'm sure the bite will pick up again.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks Lou, I knew it would not take you long to get out there.  Did you notice a big rise in water levels before and then after the storm.  So nice to hear water temps have come down.

Tx George. Water levels have remained unchanged. Still high. But not hurricane passed through high.

FYI, there are Closed signs along the ramps on the alley. Those signs are for the airboats! For regular bass boats, the ramps are open.

Thanks Lou, I think they don't want the airboats stressing the deer in the water out there.  They have closed the area a few times in the past for that reason.

That's pretty much it. The animals seek the high ground with all this high water.

Thanks Lou! Hope all UB ers survived storms OK. Rode out to Holiday the other day and water was at top of ramps! No boats out. Gonna try and fish this week, not sure where yet.
Fish Safe,

Thanks, Jim. Good luck out there. At least the temps are nice right now.
