I found that it's one of the best jerk worms ever when rigged on a light jig with 2/0 hook!

Bass and other fish go crazy seeing them dart through the water.

Cut tail was my go to for years on rivers, especially. A forgotten bait for me. Rigged it on a charlie brewer slider hook around laydown trees, rocks and other current breaks. Used light line and spinning gear and if you were careful could lead fish out of the cover before they knew they were hooked. I will have to revisit that again. 20lb floro and a jig doesn't always get it done. The slugo is another bait that was always tied on. I need to revisit that one too lol Thinking back it might be 20 years since I used either. Funny how you drift away to the new best thing.

They work well for finesse fishing, and I've had some good luck with bass.

Texas rig for Slugos - right?

How do you work them?

Size(s) used?

I choose size depending on fish activity and lure action preferred. A larger size lumbers back and forth creating more water displacement; a small size darts back and forth and is more sublte in action.

I rig them three different ways:
1. weedless T-rigged and a light bullet weight or no weight
2. wide-gap hook with a wire coil stuck in the front to hold them
3. rig them on a light 1/32 oz or 1/16 oz ball head jig with 2/0 hook exposed.
4. nose-hooked with short-shank/wide-gap hook (especially when C-rigging or dropshot)
