Good morning to everyone   8)

:toot:  Welcome to Aug 2024  ~c~

We're glad you're here and took the time to stop by.  I hope everyone is doing well and your health situation is a good one  ~shade

Our forecasted temps for across Central Texas today are 78-98dgrs with 65%humidity with a SE wind @ 13mphs   ~sun  Our 10 day forecast is calling for bright sunny skies with temps in mid 90's to low 100's  ~sweat  :surrender:

Not a lot happening here today.  I had a breakfast meeting with our church Security Team Chief.  I've started attending a different church and want to be a part of the Security Team.  It was a introductory meeting to get a feel of the situation there.  Everything looks positive, there's a couple of things to check out before I become a part of the team.

Made a quick trip to the gas station to top off the Silverado and to Walmart to restock up on water.  The rest of the day is going to be spent relaxing and tinkering around on the computer.

Y'all have a pleasant day and be mindful of your surroundings.

Good afternoon to all,

Whew its' a smoker here today  ~sweat  :surrender:  ~sun  Clear skies with lots of sun and heat all across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps for today are 79-107dgrs with 46%humidity with a SE wind @ 7mphs.

There's nothing exciting happening here today.  We made a trip to Sam's Club this morning for a couple items.  We stopped in Clems BBQ for lunch afterwards.  We both had Catfish and Shrimp platers for lunch  :food

I got my estimates back from the contractor for roof replacement.  I'm going to sit down an think about this cost difference between a Shingle and Metal Roof.  The Metal roof is about $10,000.00 more than a shingle roof.

The rest of my day here will be relaxing and doing nothing  ;)

Alrighty y'all have a pleasant afternoon and relaxing evening ahead.  Be safe in your travels if your out and about.

Greetings to everyone,

Mostly sunny skies with a forecasted temps of 76-97dgrs across Central Texas today.  The humidity is at 60% with a NE wind @ 5mphs.  With the heat index we're looking at 107dgrs later on this afternoon  :surrender:  ~sweat

There's nothing planned for today except staying indoors and enjoying the AC.  I hope everyone has a safe and pleasant Saturday.  Be mindful of your surroundings and enjoy the family time together.

Finally having a breakthrough with my recent bout of bronchitis.  Breathing much better and able to get a decent nights sleep.  Yesterday I returned to the lanes for league play but did not do very well mostly just due to being mega tired from the illness.  At least I did it and seem to be feeling a bit better each day although my strength still needs some improvement.

Had a pop up thunder storm roll through a few minutes ago but the heat is now back on with a bright sunny sky with temps heading beck to the mid to upper 90s with heat index up around 100 to 105.  Tropical storm due to hit here about tuesday that promises to bring some more rain to the area.  All depends uppon if the storm stays off the coast or comes ashore.  If it stays a bit off shore then intensification is possible but the storm is expected to remain a tropical storm.  No prep needed at this time.

The Mrs. is also feeling better the past couple days and has been doing a bunch of house cleaning and gardening around the house.  I feel like a slacker but just can't help her all that much yet.  Besides....Kinda nice being lazy once in a while.  LOL

caddyjoe77

Bud, glad to hear you are on the mend.  Was traveling all week so  I did not get to check in much.

Came home to some excitement.  Tornado ripped through the area.  Caused major damage to my neighbors house, but somehow I was spared.  Trees over, and literally bent over, some close to 90 degrees.  Spent the day dealing with that.  Crazy that the tree which fell over didnt hit the power line to my house and another tree was hanging over my kitchen roof and once again, there is really only one reason why it didnt fall on my house.

power was out for several hours after I got home last night but thanks to the amazing linesmen from the power company, I had everything back on about 0200.  They are still working on restoring all the power lines and connections.  It is really wild.  News says microburst....i say tornado.

Good morning to everyone,

Another Texas Summer Day here in Central Texas.  Lots of sun and heat  ~sun  ~sweat  Our forecasted temps for today are 76-97dgrs with 65%humidity with a N wind @ 3mphs.

Somewhat busy this morning with getting the laundry done.  I have a Medical Phone Appointment with my CPAP Clinic.  They call once a year to do a follow up and to reorder supplies for me. I have an afternoon Medical appointment with my Primary Care Doctor its my semi annual check up time.

Other than this there is nothing happening here today.

Bud; Tks for stopping by.  Glad to hear you and your wife are starting to feel better.  There is NOTHING WRONG with being a SLACKER once in a while  ;)  Hope your next bowling outing is better than the previous one.

Joe; Welcome back home from being out on the road.  Wow, glad to hear your house and property wasn't damaged during that storm.  Hope your able to get thing cleaned up in a short time.

To everyone hope your day today is a pleasant one and the evening ahead a relaxing one.  Be mindful of your surrounding.  Be safe during your travels if you have to be out on the roadways.

Just a couple of little things to do to get ready for the upcoming tropical storm.  We are expecting a whole bunch of rain here in Coastal South Carolina.  Forecasts indicate somewhere 9 and 16" over the next couple days.  Here in low country that means some road flooding, draining systems etc.  I have deployed my flood dam at the rear of the house just incase the ditch out back over flows which is quite likely depending upon how fast the rain comes.  Today has just been very light rains so the ditches are keeping up.  Storm is coming ashore in out area after an extended stay off shore.  This means a little more wind possible but not bad but usually a whole lot more rain.  Forecasters keep flip flopping so it is hard to get a straight answer.  Winds are expected to be around 50 to 60 so not all that bad.  Like always it is the water not the wind.

Spent time this afternoon messing with my bowling equipment and getting ready for my next outing on Friday.  Been kind of pleasant way to spend the day.  Hopefully Florida fares well with their hurricane landfall.

Donald Garner

Greetings to all,

Another hot sunny day across Central Texas today  ~sun  ~sweat  Our forecasted temps for today are 77-99dgrs with 55%humidity with a W wind @ 6mphs.  Lots of sun with high temps in the 10day forecast.

Nothing planned for today except staying cool in the house and relaxing.  Going to be tinkering around on the computer and just doing nothing.

I hope those that live in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are fairing well after that hurricane made land fall.  I have everyone in my daily prayers.

Bud; Tks for stopping by and checking in.  Hope your next bowling outing is a improvement over your last one.  Have fun and enjoy your new hobby.  We're still not out on the water yet.  The launch area I run out of Blora > (Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area) is still shut down.  The lake is still high but looks to be dropping some.
Hope you and your wife continue to get to feeling better also.

To everyone enjoy the day.  Be safe in your travels if you have to be out and about.

Finally stopped raining but the grass is still growing.  Important to get some mowing done as soon as possible since more rain is in the forecast this week and another potential tropical event is churning in the Atlantic.  Local rivers are now at flood stage but nothing too bad.  just some high water right on the river.  The next couple weeks will likely bring more flooding and we will see some debris starting to float around the river and the waterway.  Gotta be careful for sure if one is heading out on the boat.  It was nice to have some cooler weather during the storm but unfortunately the heat and humidity has returned with temps in the mid 90s with humidity factors to match.  Just sticky being outside even for a moment.

caddyjoe77

been relatively nice here the last couple days, low humidity with a breeze.  Took the opportunity to conform parts of the yard where the trees were removed and filled in the holes with the dirt and chips from the stump grinder.  Then, went ahead and mowed the rest of the yard.  Then threw some seed out and raked it into the areas where the trees were removed.  Watering now, hopefully with these continued temps in the 80's this week I will get some of the seed to germinate and sprout.

Good morning to everyone,

Forecasted temps for across Central Texas today are 79-99dgrs with 55%humidity with a wind from the S @ 11mphs.  There's no rain in the forecast for the next 10days.  High temps are expected to be in the high 90's - low 100's  ~sun  ~sweat

Not real busy here these past few days.  I got the yard mowed and cleaned up prior to our last thunderstorm that blew through last week.

I just finished coordinating for our new roof to be installed.  There's a 10 week wait for that to occur due to the tornado that slammed through Temple back in late May.  Coordinated for the new window and screens to be ordered and installed.  There's a 14 day wait for that to occur due to having factory order a window.  The new screens have to be constructed also.  The construction business etc. are really super busy with the reconstruction going on around here now.

I had a medical lab appointment with Team Vampire for my monthly blood draw for my Warfin Medication.  The techs had to stick me 3 times to find the vein.  Sometimes they get it on the first try and other times it takes 2-3 sticks to find  >:(

There's nothing else planned for the rest of the day today.  For some reason I don't have a lot of energy today.

Bud; Tks for stopping by with an update.  Glad to hear that your place wasn't damaged with this last hurricane.  I hope you and your wife are still getting to feel better.

Joe; Tks for stopping by also.  Yep busy times getting the uprooted trees cleaned up etc.  I had the last dead tree in the drive way taken out recently.  It took the contractor a couple days to get everything cleaned up.  I now have to figure out how / what I'm going to fill that hole with Concrete or Gravel.

Any plans to get the Cat wet soon?

To everyone hope this week is a good one for y'all.  Be safe in your travels and be mindful of your surroundings also.

Much better weather today with a forecast for the next two days that should be fantastic.  Temps will be in the lower side of the 80s with very low humidity and nights cooling down into the upper 60s.  These breaks during a hot summer are most certainly a welcome event.

Lawn has been mowed but not yet trimmed and will likely do that tomorrow.  First thing this morning had to go for lab work in prep for my routing doctor visit.  Arriving back home after the lab, I had to plant a couple hanging baskets to replace some plants that just gave up during the most recent heat wave.  Not a surprise as I usually have to do this every year.

Winter league meeting was also this afternoon and am all set up on a team for the upcoming winter season.  I will be bowling twice a week this coming season on Wednesday and Friday.  The Friday league is a short season lasting only 12 weeks and does not start until November.  The Wednesday league is 30 weeks and begins on September 4th.  I always look forward to getting out for geezer style bowling each week.

Health has been doing well and the wife also is doing good but seems to be a tad short on energy.  As a result she is able to think of more things for me to do.  I am just happy that so far I am keeping up with the infamous honey do list.

Donald Garner

Good morning to all,

Our forecasted temps for across Central Texas this morning are 80-100dgrs.  We got 64%humidity with a S wind @ 11mphs.  The week ahead is looking sunny and hot.

Nothing exciting happening here today.  I went over to the VA Pharmacy and picked up some meds I was fixing to run out of soon.  We're going to spent the day in the AC staying cool for sure.  I'll be hitting the recliner here soon to take my mid morning nap.

Bud; Tks for stopping by and sharing the day with us.  Glad to hear you and your wife are feeling much better.  Best wishes for ya during your upcoming bowling season.

To everyone hope your day is a pleasant one and the evening a very relaxing one.

Most of the boat ramps in our area that serve the Waccamaw River or the Intracoastal Waterway are closed for now.  Flooding will continue for a little while but water draining from the swamps etc will likely add some debris into the river and waterway.  Closures are mostly to protect property along these water systems

Good morning to all,

It's another Texas Summer Day Smoker here  ~sweat  :surrender:  Our forecasted temps for today are 81-106dgrs with 48%humidity with a SE wind @ 9mphs  ~sun  The week ahead is going to be hot with temps ranging up to 108dgrs :shocking:  It's going to be to hot to be outside doing anything :(

Nothing new happening here.  I've been down and out with some cold like symptoms and lack of energy.  I don't feel to bad till I get outside into the heat and I lose all my energy.  Back inside with the AC I feel ok.

I got the batteries being charged up on the Stratos.  BLORA > Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area has finally opened one of their ( 3 ) Boat ramps.  If I get to feel better I'm making an early day trip for a an hour or so.  The marina over on Stillhouse Lake caught fire last week.  One of the boats tied up there in one of the slips caught fire.

I got some clothes in the dryer needing taking out and folded.  I hear the recliner call me also. Other that this there is nothing planned for the rest of the day.

Bud; Tks for stopping by.  Hope you and your wife continue to get to feeling better.  There's still several ramps being kept closed here on Belton and Stillhouse due to the flooding we had.  I drove across Belton dam yesterday after church and it's shut down for the time being.  I didn't see any more water being released from the Stillhouse Lake dam yesterday either.

To everyone y'all have a really pleasant day.  Be mindful of your surroundings while out and about.

Good morning to all  8)

Ground Hog Day weather wise across Central Texas today  :surrender:  ~sweat    Our forecasted temps for today are 79-100dgrs with 52%humidity with a S wind @13mphs.  The week ahead is showing high 90's with lows in the 70's lots of sun with a chance of rain next Tuesday  :-\

~c~ I took the Stratos out for a run yesterday morning.  Blora (Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area) opened one of it's ramps up finally.  We made a run up to the Hwy 36 bridge and back before it got to hot.  It was a 32mile round trip and it sure felt great having the wind blowing across my head.  The boat ran great no issues at all  ~bb

I had to make an adjustment to the trailer hitch on the diesel.  When launching and pulling up the Trick Step was scraping the ground a little.  I raised the hitch receiver up an inch hopefully this will take care of the issue.  If not then I'll have to replace the receiver.

I was spent after getting back home I wound up taking a 3hr nap.  This heat really does me in quick.  I have a X-ray appointment this afternoon at the VA Hospital.  They're going to X-ray my Prostate Area.  I have a follow up Ultra-sound appointment in a couple weeks checking my Prostrate again.  My blood work numbers came back high and they're just checking things out.

Big improvement on my Kidney issues.  My legs, calves, ankles, feet and hands are back to somewhat normal looking.  I don't have all that internal fluid built up in those areas anymore for now at least  ~shade

Other than my appointment this afternoon I'll be relaxing in the recliner  ;)

To everyone I hope your day is a pleasant one and the evening is a very relaxing one.

Donald, Great to hear you took the Stratos for a nice run.  I am sure it felt great after such a long time.  Did you go by yourself or did you have a partner with you.  I see you also commented that you had to take a three hour nap after your days events.  I know the feeling as it seems like I take a little cat nap here and there most days.

caddyjoe77

finally took the kitty cat out today.  tough fishing, but man it was a nice day.  84 with a SSE breeze around 8-10.

Cat ran great!!  going to try getting her out Sunday again.

Good morning to everyone,

Blue Bird Skies are covering down across Central Texas this morning  ~sun  We had a POP Up Thunderstorm move through the area late yesterday afternoon  ~rain  It cool things down a little bit here.  Our forecasted temps for today are 76-97dgrs with 60%humidity with a S wind @ 11mphs.

There's nothing planned for today around here.  I got some laundry going on right now while I'm tinkering on the computer.

Bud; Tks for stopping by and sharing the day.  Yep it felt great being out on the water.  There wasn't any fishing done its still to hot to be outside for any long period of time.  My son went with me on the trip.  I've been showing him how to drive the Stratos when ever we get the chance.  I saw maybe a dozen trailers parked at the various ramps as we drove around.  Those naps are an everyday occurs now it seem like which makes it harder to fall asleep at night  :(

Joe; glad you were able to get the Cat wet.  Tight lines on your next trip out my good man.

To everyone hope your day is a good one.  Be safe in your travels and mindful of your surroundings.

That is a surprise, I thought you Son had returned to Alaska.

Afternoon guys.

Man, went to throw a few casts and test a few new lures but the bass weren't real responsive. But, I did find a bunch of peacocks. Those things are fun on 6lb test and ML tackle. Odd thing is they were all in 10+ of water. That's the first I've seen them in deeper waters around here (This lake is dredged out to 20' from when they built I-95). Normally they hang out in shallow, sandy, shellrock or rocky areas.

Blue Bird Skies are covering down across Central Texas this morning  ~sun   Our forecasted temps for today are 76-96dgrs with 45%humidity with a SE wind @ 7mphs.

Nothing planned for the day here.  We're recouping from sore throats and achy bodies.  I got a lab appointment tomorrow morning I'm going to stop in and get tested for COVID.  My wife isn't feeling to good this morning either.  She's going to her Clinic in the morning and get checked out.

Bud, Dwayne did go back to Alaska but has returned to attend a follow up on his brain scan he had done earlier in the year.  Hopefully during his follow up there won't be any negative findings.  If everything goes well he'll return back up to Anchorage.  If not then he'll be staying down here to receive what ever treatment he's going to need.

Top; Congrats on the catching there and tks for sharing the trip and pictures with us also.

To everyone I hope your Sunday is a relaxing one.  Yawl be safe in your travels and be mindful of your surroundings.

Hot and humid on tap for the rest of the week with heat index forecasted at 100 - 105 through the weekend.  Too hot to be outside for this old geezer.  Today I will head to the lanes to bowl a few games and just take it easy.  I need to stop by the boat storage lot and pay for another months storage fee and then hit the grocery for just a couple of items.  Likely will spend the rest of the day just messing around on the computer.

Donald, how is it going with hiring a roofing contractor and finding a source for your additional carports that you have been considering.

Been wondering if anyone has heard from Rodney?  Seems like a long time since I have seen him on line.  Jim has also been among the missing.  Hope they are doing OK.

Donald Garner

Good morning to everyone,

Our forecasted temps for across Central Texas today are 75-91dgrs.  We have 50%humidity with a E wind @ 8mphs.  We have chances of rain on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this coming week.  We could use the rain the yard is drying out again.

Spent the afternoon and early evening at the Emergency Room yesterday.  I was having a bout with diarrhea and low blood pressure.  I was feeling kinda light headed and had no energy also.  They did a couple EKG's there was nothing there to be concerned about.  They gave me a couple bags of IV's and took a bunch of blood.  They told me to stop taking my high blood pressure meds for a couple days.  I got a follow up with my primary care doctor next week. I'm feeling pretty good right now.  My BP this morning was 116/64/69.

Bud; Tks for stopping by and checking in.  I've not heard from Rodney in a couple months now.  The last time I talked with him he was busy taking care of his wife who was having I think knee surgery.  I haven't heard anything from Jim in a while also.  I hope their both doing well.

The contractors showed up and got the damaged window and 6 screens replaced.  The roofing contractor has been selected and we're on a 2.5month waiting list for our repairs to be made.  There's still lots of homes in the area with damaged roofs from the storm back in May.  We're going with a standard shingles roof.  With all the repairs needing and the back porch upper patio roof replaces the bill coming in at $18,000.00 dollars.

The all metal roof is what I really wanted but at $28,000.00 dollars that's quiet a bit for me right now. The wife is talking about moving again also to a smaller place.  She doesn't want to spend anymore money than we have too on this place.

The carports are on hold once again. The carports are still on my wish list and I'm going to fight to get at least one of them.  The price for a double car port is $8,000.00 dollars.  It's constructed with all heavy duty welded steel poles and cross members and is 25'x25' structure.

She gets on this moving thing in her mind every now and then.  She told me the other day she wish I'd sell my boats.  She's worried about me being out by myself fishing now.  If we move I'll more than like sell them as I don't want to have to pay a storage fee for them again.

Hope you and your wife continue to getting to feel better.  It's pretty hot here too and I can't take being outside much past noon here with the heat.  Have fun with your bowling I hope you continue to improve at it.

To everyone hope your day is going well and that the evening ahead will be a relaxing one.  Yawl be safe in your travels if you have to be out and about.

went to indy to see the daughters new place.  Realy nice, she did well for herself.  Was also able to get her started on her first car -- welcome to Adulting :D

might take the kitty out tomorrow for a few hours -- installed the fishobsessed mounts for LS.  Will see how much of a difference it makes.

It has been really hot here too!! next week it is only supposed to be low 80's, have a feeling this is a fake fall and we have at least one more hot week ahead of us.  Fished from the bank tod=night, caught a nice 5 pound chunker so that was cool.

other than that, not much going on in bama.  Football looking good!!

Enjoy rolling the rock Bud, and Donald hope all is well with your tests and outcomes!!
