Hi. Just got on board.  Have a 1995 18' Ragin' Cajun w/a 150 HP Evinrude and don't know the Cajun model number which I think may help when searching for parts.  It rides on a single axle Trailboss trailer.  An Hull ID Number decoder calls it a "RCX" but I'm a bit skeptical.  Any hep would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard! ~c~

A lot depends on the parts you're looking for. If you're looking for windshields, dash, hull, or locker components, the model number is important. Most of the other stuff like pumps, valves, livewell plumbing, lights, fuel caps, and steering components are pretty common.TH-Marine, Flow-Rite, and Perko come to mind right off. There are a number of web based HIN look-up sites, don't trust anything anything that requires more information than the HIN.

What parts are you needing?

Thanks for your reply.

Need some info on my Attwood lights; bow light needs bulb and new lenses.  Marking on housing is A-16-81; lamp/bulb style I believe is "festoon" style w/pointed terminal ends (almost like a football).  Placed a call to Attwood CS/Tech Support very early this a.m. and awaiting a return call.  Most likely 3 pin lights.

Good luck with everything. Those were solid boats. Do you still have the VRO hooked up on the motor?

Excuse my naiveté, but what's a "VRO"?

Variable RPM Oil or something like that. VRO system delivers oil to the engine based on engine speed. A VRO pump failure can be real bad. Some folks remove the VRO and oil tank, they prefer mixing oil with the gas in the tank. VRO failure can be prevented by following the proper maintenance schedule, using the proper oil, and making sure no debris or contaminants get in the oil.

It sounds like you've already got a handle locating parts. I believe you can get LED replacements for those bulbs if they're the ones I'm thinking of.

PM,

Thanks for your response.  I just found this very informative link https://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/VRO.html, which calls it a Variable-Ratio Oiling system, which in my simple terms is the pump which draws oil from the ~ 1 gallon reservoir that I put my oil into and feeds my  150 HP Evinrude.

Still waiting to hear back from Attwood but not too confident I'll hear anything soon.  May simply try 1 of those festoon style bulbs which are also in the dome light of my car.  If everything lights up, then I can probably patch the red/green bow nav light and be back in business.

Thanks once more.

Eric,

Welcome to the UltimateBass Family we're glad you're here.

Good luck on getting your Ragin Cajun operational.  Those are some nice looking boats.

Here's the problem with VRO. No matter what you do, it is ALWAYS failing. The oil pump is a rubber diaphragm that loses it's ability to pump enough oil. It gets weaker and weaker. Problem is that it never gets weak enough over that period of time to fire your alarm system. The motor has excessive wear and damage by that time anyway. I sold and worked on boats for almost twenty years- the VRO system was one of Johnrudes biggest mistakes/failures.

Also, don NOT run junk fuel (ethanol) in this motor. Period.

Now that Evinrude is out of business I don't know if VRO rebuild kits are even available. We used to suggest to folks to replace their old pump every two or three years, but when I quit the boat business 14 years ago they had gotten stupid high priced. Actually, the kit tripled in price when OMC went out of business on the early 2000's.
