Conditions:

Water Temps: 83
Outside temps: upper 80's, very, very humid
Water levels: Very High!
Current: Yes! Flowing East, diverted South
Clarity: Very clear, clean water
Skies: overcast
Wind: Very light from the West

Had the pleasure of fishing with JHAB's neighbor, Ralph yesterday. We have met once before, and stayed in touch. I reached out to him to see if he wanted to join me on a scouting trip, and he accepted the invite.

I arrived at the ramp, at around 2:45. Water was high, and the current was flowing! I saw several nice peacock around, and that gave me some hope.

Ralph arrived around 3pm and off we went. We ran West first, I wanted to check out a couple of peacock spots for an upcoming guide trip. When we arrived to the first spot, I knew we were in for a tough outing. The water was very high, covering the bottom of the trees along the bank. The nice beautiful rocks that were scattered along the bank just last week, gone! All submerged. The water ran deep into the marsh, and way back along the roadside.

We tried several techniques, and nothing. We picked up and move to spot #2. Same, nothing. But this area had more current. Picked up and moved again, this time East. Wanted to work an area known for both nice bass and peacock. This area did not have current however. We threw everything at these fish. Nothing. Saw little bass, and several nice peacock, but the fish were not remotely interested.

Finally after 7pm, I began to move fish. Unfortunately, the fish, what ever they were, did not fully commit, resulting in several misses. At around 7:30, I hooked into a decent fish with my spook boyo, but it wrapped me in the pads, and lost it!  :'(

But, there were signs of life! Kept with the spook boyo, moved a few more fish, and finally landed our one and only bass of the day. A one pound bass!  ~c~  lo  I was very happy with that catch!  ~roflmao

We kept working the area hard. Ralph moved a couple a fish of his own, and his only catch of the day was a little gar. It was getting dark, I looked at my watch and it was 8pm! We had to get going, so I called the trip.

It was great fishing with Ralph. Good people. Unfortunately I couldn't put him on fish on this outing. But this was a very informative trip for me. I'm done with the alley until next year.  :(

Wish I could report some good news fellas, but this storm raised the water 4 feet! It was very tough fishing to say the least. Thanks for reading!
