Conditions:
Water temp: 77-79
Current: all over the place
Skies: Cloudy
Water level: Ridiculous
Wind: SE 5-10
Bass caught: 14

Went out on a scouting trip, because, I have a guide trip with a repeat client on Wednesday.

Arrived at the ramp before sunrise. Made a long run to an area that holds nice bass. Unfortunately, nobody was home. Did manage catch a couple of little guys.

Fished the area for over 2.5 hours and decided to take another long run.

The new area was worse! The current was ripping! My boat was moving with current at 2 mph.
Did manage to catch one bass, though.

Made another run looking for  calmer water. Found a quiet stretch and managed to catch a few bass.

Checked out another spot, and it was pretty much dead.

Despite boating 14 bass. It was tough fishing today. High water and current are not the best combo right now.

Fingers crossed, I can pull off a productive trip on Wednesday.

Thank you for reading.

Lou, congrats on figuring out the bite there.   Tks for sharing the trip and those pictures with us also.  Hope the fish are there when your Guide Trip comes around   ~shade

Buddy you kill me with your comment about having a TOUGH DAY only boating 14 bass    :surrender:    If I had a day trip where I caught 14 bass I'd be stopping at the gas station on the way home and buying Lottery Tickets  lo  lo

Tks again for sharing the trip with us  ;)

Thank you, Donald. I know the boated number comes off wrong.    It's a local thing. This time of year, that number is awfully low. Again, I know that comes off wrong.

Nice job Lou. Your clients will have a good time.

Way to go buddy. ~c~  ~c~  ~c~   I know it's not what your used to this time of year, but it should keep the client happy if you put him on 14!  Went to Weston tonight and all the lakes are at full pool.  This is not just from rain, but they must be pumping south from the Big O!  Everything is up!   ~xyz   What did you catch them on, did you get in the flats?

Lou not knocking you for the catching there  ~shade   The lakes I fish here Belton and Stillhouse you are lucky if you can put a good limit in the boat during a 8hr fishing trip.  Every lake here in Texas is different.  There are some lakes where you can get tired of catching the bite and fishery is just that good.  We have other lakes where the quality of the fish is better than the quantity.

I remember when I first moved here and started fishing Belton Lake in 2002.  You could go out and boat a 100 bass a trip.  All of the fish were between 10inches and 13.5inches.  Now days the quality of the fish has improved greatly and there are some really good limits that are brought to the scales during the Skeeter Bass Champs and Texas Team Trail Tournaments.

Tight lines to ya buddy.  I enjoy reading your trip reports and checking out the photos as well as those great videos you produce.
