I would be coming out from the Amtrac River Bridge. How far would you need to go yet to catch stripers. Are there any maps of the areas. So far, we have gone across to Rock Hall. Tried a few spots with nothing.
Once we go over to Rock Hall we fished the channel with the other boats. I don't like fishing bait. we did find fish on the way back on my favorite lure. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, would like to fish for bass the person i fish with says he never sees anybody catch any. I guess up the river is good trout fishing. I come from PA trying to help find fish so when I come, we can catch something. Thank you all for your help and knowledge.

Welcome to Ultimate Bass!

I grew up in MD, but that's not an area I had fished from a boat. I've fished along there up in some of the creeks from shore.

How are you fishing for them? That area of the bay & in the mouths of those rivers should be places that you can find Stripers. I've recalled many reports of folks fishing along there by Hart Miller Island & near Pooles Island and catching them on both sides of the bay. Most of that was trolling with various lures. So it can depend on how you're fishing for them and no matter what, you have to locate them first.

I've read some recent comments how the Largemouth Bass are not in those rivers now like they used to be, so possibly further up the bay in places such as the Northeast River or the Susquehanna flats & into the river may give you a better opportunity to catch them. That might be a long run from the Gunpowder however.

Yes, the Gunpowder further up river is an excellent trout water, but it can get crowded, especially as the weather warms. Used to be, from around where US RT 40 crossed the river, that trout could be caught, and upriver to the Prettyboy dam, but I think the sections between Loch Raven Reservoir & Prettyboy is possibly the better choice if you're interested in trout. It's been several years since I've been there and done any fishing. The last time, I was visiting my oldest son & his family. They had lived in Monkton.

I used to catch some Smallmouth bass in the Gunpowder at both US RT 40 & US RT 1, but that was many years ago, and used to be able to park along the roadway shoulders then, but I don't believe that's the case now.
