Conditions:
Moon phase: Waxing Crescent
Temps: Low 70's to low 80's
Water level: Very high, flooded banks
Water clarity: Clear
Wind: 15-20 out of the South
Skies: Overcast to partly cloudy
Fishing time: 645-12pm
Bass boated: 17
Biggest bass: 5.5lbs

Despite the wind forecast, I really wanted to chase after bigger bass today. What better place to do that than the Marshlands!

I wanted to get out there really early and made it to my launch spot at 0 Dark thirty. The mosquitoes were in full effect. Geesh!

Since the wind was blowing out of the South, I wanted to make it to a particular stretch that I really enjoy fishing. It's off the beaten path, and I have caught several nice bass from there in the past.

Today's strategy was to throw big baits. I had a big swimbait and spinnerbait ready to go.

Stopped along a few spots along the way and managed to coax a few bites.

As soon as I arrived at my intended spot, a beautiful 5.5lb bass inhaled my swimbait.

After a great fight and release, I began to pick apart the area. The water was shallow and clear, and the bass seemed to be hanging around the pencil reeds.

Over the next few hours, I boated some more nice bass, but they weren't close to the bass that caught earlier in the morning.

As the day warmed up, so did the bite! Unfortunately, I had to leave, and I'm looking forward to returning soon! ;)
