Here's an idea  :-*  that popped into my head this morning. Would you guys be interested with having a technique/bait of the month thread? Let me explain. This will be an on going thread. If the concept takes off, this thread can either be posted monthly or on a seasonal basis, similar to the FL Talk thread.

I know several of us post fishing reports when we have the chance to fish, and mention what technique and baits we were using on that outing. But through out any given month and/or season, we gravitate towards techniques, patterns, and baits. This particular piece of information I believe, can be a useful resource. We can all learn from each other, and return to these threads as a reference tool with regards to seasonal techniques/baits that have been working for active anglers through out Florida.

What do you guys think?  :-*

I think it's a good idea if I understand it correctly. So would there be a topic title created such as stick Worms? Do we then all pile on and contribute with tips or questions about the subject?

No, this would be an ongoing thread in regards to the lures, baits, and techniques that's been working for us throughout the year.

What I may have failed to convey properly is the posting frequency on the thread. I can create a monthly thread or seasonal thread.

On my last post, I was sharing which bait what worked for me most effectively yesterday.  In my case, I'm  choosing to post on the thread after every outing.

Others can post weekly or seasonally. It's completely up to the angler.

Did I make better sense?

Capt. BassinLou

Maybe this will make better sense. Here's a thread example: "Winter (2024) Top Lures and Techniques" or
"Your most effective January lures and techniques"

Again these are just quick examples, I'm just spit balling with the titles, but its something we can decide on as a group, if you guys find the idea helpful.

Lou, Great idea there.  This would benefit a Visitor that maybe planning a trip to our part of the country.  They would be able to see what baits & techniques  we're using during that specific trip / season so to speak.

I like that idea.  Tks for coming up with it.  On another note here maybe it could be also INPUTED in the "Catch of the Day" or Planning a Trip Section.  This way anyone that is lurking can see this information in a couple places ie Florida Boards, Texas Boards etc..

Thanks, Donald, that's the idea. Let's see if it takes hold.

Lou, sometime ago you posted a video about walking baits and how to do it.  For those that are video capable it is a great way to demonstrate what a person is talking about and hits the point that many of us lessor skilled anglers get a lot of benefit from by actually seeing what the poster is talking about.  Otherwise a post without video would be a good thing too.

Thank you for the suggestion, Bud. One of my several New Year ideas for the site was to do exactly what you just mentioned. Tie in instructional videos catered to UB. You beat me to the announcement. ;)

Smallie_Stalker

Sounds like a good idea to me. And I think both Don and Bud were spot on.

sure, this is good but as Bud eluded to and differentiation from what everyone else is doing is --> people want to know HOW to present them IMO.

In order to expand on this video concept, member participation is  important in order to guide the video creators. Videos can be very broad or extremely specific. Without guidance, the video can mean well, but it can also miss the mark.

Capt. BassinLou

I appreciate the feedback thus far. I don't want this thread to deviate from the initial question that was asked.  Although, the addition of how-to videos is an excellent idea and segue. We may have to open another thread on this topic we'll see.

fair enough -- just bringing it up from my personal YT experience.  I gravitate much more to situational in practice baits than I do the "it is january, try these baits".

we should probably ask this in main as well -- once again I didnt realize I was in FL Chat :D  lo  lo

Lol!  But I understand what you mean in regards to those types of videos. Lastly, you are more than welcome to hang out in the FL forums. You ask great questions! ;)

Ok, I understand now. I think it's a great idea. Just wondering what the best frequency would be? Maybe quarterly to coincidence with the FL chat change frequency?

That's the idea I was leaning towards.  :-*
