What is the best way to sell a bass boat nowadays?

I've been trying to sell my Bass Cat the last few weeks with very little interest. I've got it posted on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace along with about 10 or so boats for sale Facebook groups.

My dealer reached out to me and offered to sell it for 10% plus a $250 diagnostic certification fee.

Is there a better way?

It really depends upon what else the dealer brings to the party.  Since your boat is fairly new it carries a significant price tag.  If the dealer brings a financing method to the party then the 10% is a reasonable option given the availability of financing in todays market place.

Personally I would not want to fool with trying to sell it myself.  If a potential buyer is wanting to buy a bass cat boat then where better to start looking is at a bass cat dealer.  Just having pictures on their website in the used section is a great advantage.

you may be better off just taking hte hit, depending on how badly you want to sell it.  When I got my puma, I decided that I didnt want to wait if something great came along, so I knew that going in.  That is also what happened in my case.

Your case may be different.  If you have some patience, sell it for what you need to get out of it just keep in mind that it might be a while.  Not many people are looking to take out a boat loan at 10 percent. You are probably looking at a cash buyer or mostly cash buyer.

what Cat do you have?

10% and a $250 diagnosis certificate for the buyers piece of mind is a pretty good deal, depending on what they feel the price should be.  It's obviously the slowest time of year to sell a boat.  Things will look different in March or April when people start to look again, so if you can hang onto it for a bit, try selling in a warmer market....

Caddy, it's a 2020 Bass Cat Margay.

How deep is your garage?  That it fits in a standard 2 car garage would be a selling feature IMO The Margay fishes big and can be stored in a tight space.

I have been shopping for a house down your way that will fit my boat. Those with oversized garages and lots are $$$$
Doesn't look good for me anytime soon.

It took months for me to sell my Tritons but our season is short here. It took all winter and luckily they sold early in the spring. It would be worth it to me to have the dealer handle all the phone calls, showings and marketing.

You're doing a good job on your own though. I have seen your ads a few times. The video walk through is a big plus.
Good luck.

I agree with others, Steve. Boat wanting season is just around the corner and if your in no hurry, the right guy will probably come along, but the vast majority of buyers out there are all looking for 70+ mph boats. If you're looking for a quick sale, ten percent, if you get your asking price, might not be that bad.

With interest rates being the way they are right now, folks don't seem to want to make the jump and buy a boat like they did during covid.  I hope you can get it sold quickly! Are you buying another boat?

I tried to sell it myself for over 2 1/2 months with no takers. I decided to see if my dealer could do any better and gave it to them on consignment. Less than 48 hours later....SOLD! Surprisingly the new buyer is actually paying more for the boat than I did 4 years ago (I got an amazing deal at the time through Bass Cat). Hoping the sale is completed by the end of the week!

FnB:  had my boat listed and had a 'good' offer in the first few weeks.  thought I could do better.  turned it down cause it was not what I was asking.

kept that boat in my garage for about another year before I found the right buyers.  and took even less.

would do it the same all over again.

best way to sell a boat?  1.  don't have to  2.  be patient.
