  So I figured I'd ask the guys I've come to know and trust, over random internet kids. I was looking at getting a Keel Guard for my Dakota, but a majority of things I've read says "Not for use on aluminum". Anyone have experience with using one on their aluminum boat?

Fortunately for you, that information is false! I have been running a keel guard for a couple of years now on my vexus, and a good friend of mine has had one on his tin boat for 7 years. Here's a pic that I just took for you from my boat.



I read about those keel guard "issues" on tin boats as well, and from what I can gather, it was an installation error. My boats keel is a little different than most tin boats, and even then, with a professional installation, it's still going strong.

I don't have one on my G3 but I've seen several Aluminum Boats (Bass Boat Styles) here in Central Texas with them.  The places I fish out of my G3 I really don't need that piece of equipment on my boat.  My Stratos has one now though.

There were issues with them when they first came out...Like Lou mentioned it was an installation error.  I know if they're not put on right they can be an real issue when boating.  If you get one make sure it's installed right.

That's good to hear! You won't regret your purchase. Just research how to properly install one, and you will not have any issues.
