Conditions:

Water clarity: Clear
Water level: Marsh is extremely shallow, border canals avg level
Current: Yes
Wind: Not much
Air Temps: 90's
Humidity: High
Skies: Sunny to partly cloudy
Fishing Time: 0645-11:30
Bass Boated: 16
Top 5 Bass Weight: 15lbs

Fished the Marshlands with my Bass Hunter boat today. Arrived at my launch site at 0 Dark thirty. By the time I had the boat ready, dawn was approaching. Launched and basically stayed put on purpose. I could hear the bass feeding while I was setting up the boat. The current was running, and I wanted to get a feel of the bass around the launch site.

I started with the HB Frog, and within the first few casts, a bass crushed it. Not a big one, but a healthy chunky one. Threw the frog a bit more with a few misses. Quickly switched to a swimbait, and it was also getting hit. THE FEED WAS ON!!

Switched back to the frog, and proceeded to catch nice bass throughout the first 3 hours of the outing. Suddenly, around 9:30, the bass completely shut off!  :'(  I could see very nice bass swimming around, but nothing I threw at them got them feeding again.

Fished for another couple of hours, catching a few bass here and there, but nothing like the morning bite. Decided to call it quits around 11:30.

Didn't catch any monsters, although I did miss one after one hellacious blow up, but I never saw it. Did manage to put together a decent bag of 3 to 3.5 pounders, though. All in all, it was a fun outing.

Thanks for reading!

Great job in this hot weather.

Question, do you ever fish a popping style frog?

Thanks Flat's. To answer your question, yes I do fish the popping frog. Not as often, however.

So Lou, and maybe I've missed this, but the layout of the Everglades? It's surroundings. How about a video with you mapping it out? Showing the "numbers" areas against those places that give better opportunities at larger bass. Does that make sense? I think it would be a GREAT topic if you could go in-depth on these locations, plus maybe some geopolitical stuff. Like where to stay, etc.

If you've done this already then I've shown my pure-D dumbass again. I'll need a link, please.

Thanks!

Dale

P.S. Same for the BOSS. A mapping of central Florida. Lakes and rivers and such. Where to go. Times of the year. Where to stay. How to make the wife think it's HER idea. Thanks again.

Dale that is a great idea!!  :-*  :-*  However,,,, keep in mind, I'm a guide first and foremost and a Youtuber if you can call me that, second.  lo  lo  Although the Everglades is very big place. It can fish really small when the conditions are tough, like they are right now.

I shoot my videos on purpose in the community spots. Those big bass areas, and locations, I keep close to vest. If I were to slip and post a video of these places, its game over for that spot.

As far as accommodations? There are so many in the main land, that it all depends on the person's budget. South FL unfortunately is a really expensive. I can't recommend locations unless I have a budget idea.

FlatsNBays, will have a much better idea, of suitable accommodations since he travels down to this part of the state of few times a year.  ~shade
